Glow plug mobile mechanic needed S Yorks ?

Help needed !

I have 2 snapped glow plugs, tried to remove one using a kit from Amazon but all I've done is to drill a hole in the old one, it simply won't budge.

Are any of you guys aware of any firms in south Yorks who specialise in this kind of stuff ? Mobile preferable

It mention hot engine and using penetration oil. And cycle over a number of heat cycles.

I've got the glow plugs out - stripped top of engine off including the fuel rail to get the necessary access to the glow plugs.
I drilled the broken ones out with a selection of long drill bits, upto an m9 drill. I then tapped the threads back out with an M10 tap.
This isn`t a job I would like to do again and certainly not one for the feint hearted. !!!

You have to snap the tops off manually - one required drilling all the way out - the other cam whizzing out on the drill bit.

Struggling now to prime the fuel pump as VCDS isn't playing - 'not supported in active session'. Now searching the forum to find a way to manually prime the system

'not supported in active session' means you need to put the password in. Come back out of that page and select password and enter it then try again. If you hover mouse over password it tells you the password to enter.

This was a massive help, thanks for letting me know. Still can't get the bloody thing to start though , think it's air trapped by the injectors . I have a bit of time to look at it again on Monday

When VW fitted my new engine, it took them ages to get it started.

I saw it in the dashcam.

They run the lift pump for 3mins, made sure fuel was at the filter and up to the HPFP.

Then cranked watching the fuel rail pressure build.

And had a battery charger on the van for good start motor speed.

But they still needed easy start to get it going.

It took 15 odd goes to get it to fire and purge all the air out.

Thankyou All this 'progress' doesn't really serve us, the consumer does it. My missis hit the nail on the head the other day when I was scratching my head with the software, she said they have in effect made it impossible to repair our own possessions ! I may well sell up and get a T4 . I'm ok with welding and body work !
