Looking at getting roof bars and rear bumper protector is it worth staying with genuine oem parts or are aftermarket just as good...?

I have a genuine carbon rear bumper protector, and although it fits nice, and looks great, it's not really withstanding a great deal of knocks.
Then I'd sooner have that damaged then my bumper I guess.

Genuine bumper protectors in particular the black ones fade really bad so I would consider aftermarket if you want black
Genuine roof bars are load rated (can’t remember exactly what) whilst most after market ones are not and intended mostly for show so if you intend to carry stuff up there I would consider genuine or look at a decent brand like Thule for example and avoid the cheap ones !

When you fix the bolts of the bars into the roof, either ptfe tape or silicone.
The dealers fitted mine on the last velle and it was like a scene off the titanic when it rained!

Great comments so aftermarket for the protector just got to find a good one.... roof bars are just to look good so again will look out for aftermarket..... looked on ebay but what sites specialise in caravelle parts...?

I fitted WOC rear bumper protector. And OEM roof rails + cross bars. Proper 75kg load rated. Good price. Look great. Get dealer to fit, then no worries. Mine have been perfect. Mind, it's not rained for 6 months down here!

I have a genuine VW bumper protector on my T5.1 & it's faded to buggery after 4 years. I have a Vanstyle stainless one on my T6 & it's spot on
