Gear Shift difficult on DSG

I have a 2016 Generation 6 Caravelle and occasionally find it is difficult to go from the park position to drive. I have asked about this problem with VW when servicing the van at the garage, but it is difficult to speak with anyone who has knowledge of this fault, especially as we have had all the covid 19 restrictions. I am wondering if anyone else has experienced similar problems and if they have been able to remedy the problem.

As above, sounds like strain on the drivetrain, what’s your technique?
I always come to a stop and keep my foot on the brake until I’ve first shifted to P and then applied the handbrake, only then do I release the foot brake. I’ve never had a problem moving from P to D, even on an incline.

Having had vehicles with electric parking brakes, I tended to just use Park as a brake and not bother with the hand brake, but have since learned to do as @Ali-G suggests.

I normally apply handbrake and then move into P whilst foot still on brake. I will try your method from now on. Many thanks Ali-G.

I had it a few times when easy to put in park but hard to take out of P. Never happened if going to N as well
