How do you fix this to the van?

When I replaced my tailgate struts, they didn't come with the ball end. I just swapped old for new, leaving the ball ends fitted to the van.
Is this a bonnet strut?
Do the old ones have a hex section similar to this?

Just looked it up @Dellmassive how did you attach it ? I can't get to the backside of the area I'm attaching it too??
It's bolted on before the carpet lining is finished off.
You will need to drop the trim surrounding to get to the back side of the frame.
Post some pics of what you have.

Yes. Roof with no bed. Trying to save money and make myself!

We had the bed fitted as part of the roof.
Three hinges at the rear.
And two gas rams on the side.
With cutouts for the rams.
