Has anyone else had any issues with the battery going flat. Mines a standard unconverted van that has a factory 2nd battery fitted. The only addition to the factory set up is the dash camera that is supplied direct from the 2nd battery. Currently in Lancashire Vw Commercial being in looked at.

After how long till it went flat?

Started going faulty 2 weeks ago, but you can jump start it and drive 20 miles to work, soon as you turn the ignition off and on it won’t start. Had Vw assistance out who load tested battery and said it’s fine ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So when VW assist come out and tested the battery....

Did it start on that day ok?

Our van will last 3weeks before the starter is almost a no start.

If left for 3weeks we connect up a charger once a week for 24hrs.

That was the day it broke down when Vw assist came out. I have a BC smart charger that I used on my previous van and left that on over night. It starts in the morning when it’s been on overnight but as I said before as soon as I get to work it won’t start. My van is t32 4motion 204 dsg that’s only covered 6k. Even on a long run it still won’t start after it’s been turned off and back on. The voltage on the 2nd battery is always about 12.8v, even when the main battery won’t spin the engine. That battery is about 12.4v and it still won’t turn it over

So why not call out VW assist for the afternoon.... Then drive the van home, so it's hot ....

Then you should have the no start hot van issue ... And a VW tech at the same time.?

I rang Vw assist at 9am, they arrived at 4pm. Don’t think I can gauge how long they will take to arrive to be honest. The van has a a few electrical issues from new, one is with the dynamic traffic sign assist that they still can’t fix. Apparently it’s another software related problem. It’s also keeps flagging up electronic child lock fault amongst other things. My last Transporter was a 2011 and I never had any issues with that at all, beginning to wish I never sold it now

If they do replace your battery, check that you have actually got a new one and not a “spare” from a van that has been sitting in their yard for months. They (Preston van centre) near as damnit admitted that this probably happened to me when my original Moll battery was changed under warranty after 2 years, and I am now having problems with the replacement Moll again a year later, though it tested OK a week ago when I took it in. It’s currently reading 12.24v after driving 71 miles on Saturday but just 8 on Sunday. Thankfully it’s a TSI, so usually starts OK.
It does sound as if your van has further issues though, but they might be caused by the battery?

I had a phone conversation with them today, apparently it’s now had a new battery fitted and that has worked, also the dynamic road sign fault is now cured too ?. Wasted 2 weeks of my time just to confirm that the battery was faulty, which we probably already knew. Not really impressed with the service there now, having used them for 10 years.
