Fiamma F43 van awning side panels

This is warning to anyone thinking of buying one of the f43 van specific side panels.
I purchased one of these, the pro model which is a substantial bit of kit with support poles and high quality fabric panel. I didn’t get the chance to try it out before heading off to snowdonia but as there was only one model available to fit my 370 awning what could go wrong?
So the first time I tried to fit it, it wasn’t having any of it. The support pole that fits between the awning box and the wind out section was too long by approx 225 mm. No matter how many times I read the instructions it just wouldn’t fit. I gave up and contacted the seller on my return. They were equally puzzled and contacted Fiamma direct for advice. It turns out the panel I was supplied was for the first production run if the f43 awning with a 225cm canopy. This had problems so they stopped production and released a modified v2 with a 200 cm canopy hence why mine didn’t fit as I have the latter.
The seller and Fiamma have been great and it will be collected pending stocks of the new shorter 200cm panels.
So the upshot is, there are two versions of the 270 awning model with different canopy sizes so you might want to confirm which one you have if you are planning on ordering one of these panels. It may also apply to the private room panels or the f43 300 awning model.

Aye. The F43van was revised around summer time last year. I don't know what the changes were, but it could be as you say there are dimensional differences betwixt older and new.

In case it helps anyone in the future. This is the feedback from the Fiamma importer with part numbers

The Reason the side panel 08980-01- Will not fit , this Panel was made for the first run of F43 270 Awnings which extended 225CM

Fiamma then changed the F43 270 Awning to a 200CM Projection

Customer requires side panel 08980B01, we are currently awaiting Fiamma to confirm availability.

I was warned that the privacy room would not be available till possibly as late as oct this year due to these issues. I got the 300 sides recently and was perfect.

I’m having second thoughts about replacing the side panel with the correct size. It is very chunky what with the poles and all, yes it’s solid and will be a good wind stop but I’m thinking a descent wind break would be a good alternative. I was impressed by the outdoor revolution break at the Newbury show last weekend, very sturdy bit of kit

I bought the outdoor revolution windbreak and it is a great bit of kit .Just be careful when putting it up as I popped mine out laying flat on the ground as stated but managed to put a rip in it ,on its very first outing a couple of weeks ago due to some stones I didnt notice

We have the Pronto Pc one and use it with one side and a front block on the awning.

That’s unlucky but tbh I’m surprised as the fabric seems quite robust. Hopefully you will be able to repair it but I will bear your experiences in mind should I get one

Forgot to say my only slight reservation is the packed down size is quite large compared to a traditional wind break and as we all know space is of a premium.

Do you have the 3 or 4 panel version? I’m thinking 5m setup might be a bit overkill so 3 panel might work better. I’m not too worried about privacy, more keep out of the wind and not having to keep relighting the cadac!
