Factory LED Headlight fault code I can’t clear.

So, I have been trying to clear a code that I can open using icarsoft handheld scanner.

The codes are

C103415
Active static left front level control system sensor open circuit/short circuit to B+

I assume this is do do with the levelling of the lights, but when. I start the van up, it moves the lights up to level. Could this be associated with the code below?

C108000
Left/right handing traffic change over active

I believe that this could correspond to a setting on the dash called “travel mode” under “lights and vision” but I’ve never changed this on my van, and now the menu for “lights and vision” has dissapeared. I’ve had it from new.

I have followed a couple of threads and unplugged the sensor and reset the code, but the code doesn’t clear.

I have had another associated issue on the van with the rear indicators not working. I assumed this was a bulb failure, However having taken the bulb out, and checking it and replacing it back the problem has gone away, but I believe it may be intermittent.

Perhaps the problems are associated with the LED ECU “bend lighting computer” throwing up issues?

The code for left right changeover simply means you have travel mode activated (which it should not be if you are in your home country)

The other code is telling you there’s an issue with the front level sensor, it’s actually at the front right and is easily accessible behind the drivers wheel if you turn the steering to the right

The levelling module controls the motion of the lights and it will always dip and raise on power up even if there’s faults etc

Thanks for the reply.

Yes from the research I’ve done, I thought that the van is stuck in travel mode. I have tried some of the advice listed in the forum regarding clearing code and then trying to reset the factory settings in the MFD in the dash. I have a 68 plate highline with comfort dash. I’ve tried numerous different ways of trying to eliminate this. Removing the light module ecu under the dash, and a still cannot get to a driver setting to remove the travel mode. I doesn’t even show “lights and vision” Perhaps I need someone with VCDS to change it back to UK RHD mode?

The front level sensor, I have located yesterday and followed some advice within the forum regarding unplugging and plugging it back in and recycling powers/removing the code.. I cannot see any visible damage on the unit and the ball joints and the arm seem to be all intact. I have done a visual check of the cable, but I do not know where this cable terminates to check continuity.

I cannot remove either code using the logic that I have applied so far.

Do you know what the common fault could be? I am assuming change the sensor unit which is in the suspension arm?

Could be the sensor but more likely a wiring thing, water in the plug is most common
If you check the wiring diagram for led headlights it will give you pinouts for plugs etc and you can do some basic tests

Ok, so do you think I’m right on the travel mode? Needing VCDS. ?

I’ll have a look for the wiring diagram for the level sensor. I don’t know where it is currently.

If travel mode isnt appearing in the MFD menu then there may be another underlying issue
That menu automatically appears when the van sense LED headlights/levelling system is installed so its strange that its disappeared, it could be related to the level sensor issue but I've had faulty sensors before not make that menu option disappear ?

I wouldnt say you NEED vcds but it does make life a lot simpler and troubleshooting is much easier with a proper tool, a full vcds auto scan will show you everything thats going on and could give you a bit more direction but either way that level sensors needs to be fixed so its your call

Yup, I’m certainly trying to figure out the level sensor currently.

It’s dry with no corrosion. But struggling to find an accurate looking wiring diagram. To chase the wiring.

Yesterday was spent fixing the auto start stop issue which I have now fixed successfully.

I’m managed to fix all the issues on the van now. So thanks for the offer of the diagram, but didn’t need it.

So…. The plug to the levelling sensor, was wired up incorrectly. Looks like, someone… garage which was main dealer or quality independent.. the only people who have worked on this van have ripped the plug off the sensor and not put the wires back in the correct configuration. Once this was done and that id check the sensor, and reset the code, and recycled power enable me to check the other codes coming up and letting me clear it.

I could then gain the lights and vision menu, which then let me turn off “travel mode” and then re checked for codes and operation.

So from having 14 fault codes over the weekend, coming from battery wiring, and lighting wiring I’ve now got zero codes and full pass on the reader.
