Engine warning light

We privately purchased a vw transporter start line conversion a couple of days ago and today the Amber engine warning light came on. The van had an MOT as part of the sale agreement which passed.

I am new to van life and I am no mechanic. Where would be best to take the van to be diagnosed and possibly fixed? I live in South Manchester.

Thankyou

Its likely you will get various lights come on over the period of owning the van, I suggest getting your own fault reader, many on here have carista which will enable you to post fault codes and get better advice. In the short term i'd take it back to the garage you bought it from once you have the codes read as they may have cleared existing faults just to sell you the van

If you can’t find anything closer, I’m in Barnsley with VCDS. I can plug it in and have a look for you. Our daughter lives in south Manchester & it takes us around 1.5hours from Knutsford to Barnsley.

I've had my T6 Kombi since 2019. 6 months ago, the engine light came on. I had VW Assistance out and they said a sensor needs replacing. Over the last 6 months, it's been in a VW dealership for 4 whole months and they still can't get to the bottom of it. They said its a faulty wire somewhere as it comes on and goes off frequently. Sometimes for days, hours or weeks. I'm so fed up with it, as I love my van. I'd sell it, but I'm not the type to mislead someone.

The fault diagnostic at the dealership seems to be useless. I can't understand in modern time how they can't work out where the problem occurs I'm based near Heathrow if anyone knows a good engineer that is goof with fault finding.
