[EGR] Warning light on second-hand purchase

Hello
I have a three year old T6 that is under an extended warranty because I only bought it a few weeks ago. A couple of weeks ago the engine warning light came on which someone diagnosed for me as an air flow issue (I think something to do with the egr). I have it booked in at VW for a VW diagnostics check. However, the light has now gone out. Do I still need to take it in to be looked at or has it potentially resolved itself? I just wondered if anybody else has experienced this.

I would take it in as it sounds like the erg valve is sticking part open. The fault code will still be stored so they can read it . It will come back . It will be a euro 6 engine so is a comm fault .

Thank you. I'll get it looked at. I was told it's a common fault.

I had a warning light come on 2 weeks ago (p0401) if i remember correctly. EGR insufficient airflow. VW van service centre (Skoda dealer) Belmont Durham flushed the egr valve. Only had the van 12 months, 11,000 miles.
It seems to be a weak spot on the t6. Never had a problem on my Golf 45k miles. Otherwise i'm enjoying owning a van. Hope you get yours sorted.

That code rings a bell and the fault was insufficient airflow. I'm booked in at Belmont on 1st Oct so hopefully they'll be familiar with the problem and sort it for me. Thanks for your reply.

VW Assist diagnosed p0401, so had my EGR flushed a couple of weeks ago at my local dealer(fortunately under warranty), 67 reg and 13,500 miles. Not sure what I will do once warranty runs out in November:confused:

How often do you think it will need doing?

Bought a T32 about 3 weeks ago, second day of ownership engine management light came on, plugged it in EGR valve fault, now this has come on, same fault or something new?1B669209-61BD-42E4-9350-93CA4B0150AE.jpeg

Is it in limo mode ? If not you need to try take it on a long run at steady speed on motor way, if lucky you’ll get it to regen if not to passed the point if not I’m not sure on the later ones but used to be able to set the adaptions to do a kind of forced regen a kind of request using vagcom

If you bought it from a garage and it is not yet 28 days I would give them a call to see if they will sort it out for you. Happening so soon it sounds like a pre-existing fault so I would expect them to fix it.

Yes to much coincidence that quickly to get a fault sounds like it may have been cleared previously

Private sale! Yep sounds like existing faults that have been cleared. I’m having a go at the EGR this weekend, not sure about this new dpf fault yet, more research I think.
Thanks

What is the age of van ? Some times dpfs go past the point of saving I hope it’s not the case for you, if you have access to vagcom can look at the soot levels in measuring blocks
