EGR Fault Codes on new unit

Bit of a head scratcher - bought the van three weeks ago and had our first big run out last few days - Yorkshire to South Wales to Bristol and back home. Engine light came on yesterday after the run to Bristol but coupled with stop/start fault warning on the dash (so put it down to that). Light still on so have 'nursed' it back home this afternoon - all seems to be running absolutely fine. Borrowed next door's diagnostic tool and getting P0401 / 0403 / 0406. Have found a few things on here obviously about 0401 and 0403 (all of which sound expensive) but nothing on 0406 (apart from a listing of all the codes). Obviously it's coming back to EGR but valve and cooler were replaced by the previous owner about two months / less than 1000 miles ago in response to a warning light and diagnostic. I'm going to try and take it into local garage first thing tomorrow but problem is I'm meant to be running it up to Dubtricks in Harrogate tomorrow afternoon as it's booked in for insulation / carpeting and lights which I REALLY want to get done as have other trips planned in the coming weeks.

Just wondered if anyone had any observations - especially about the 0406 code (which a quick google suggests might be sensor / wiring related). Obviously want to get it over to Harrogate but don't want to push my luck if it's not going to be good for it - especially after a 250 mile run back this afternoon.

(We're June 2016 / Euro 5 Bluemotion T6 btw).

Although having just gone to shift the cars round on the drive, the light is now off (and definitely didn’t clear it when I ran the diagnostic) 🤷‍♂️

That means the faults intermittent and clears the light on ignition cycle. I've set it a few times recently different posts the adaptation aren't carried out when swapping the EGR this can cause problems later on so it may be a simple case I've just needed and easy on updation carrying out and all maybe while I'm good however that said if whoever you've got it from let's put a cheaper EGR on these can fail easily we're here to use VW parts because we know how sensitive electronics can be on these vehicles especially emissions systems

Clear the codes see if it comes back. Drive it to Dubtricks. I work on the principal that if the EML is orange and it’s not in limp mode then the van is telling you it’s still driveable. Certainly in the short term until you can get things fixed.

Thanks. I had the ignition on and off a few times over the weekend but it only cleared last night, but if it’s only presenting as intermittent at the moment I’m a touch more relaxed about it. My worry is that as you say, it’s a cheaper EGR that has been fitted (especially when the invoice I have for it is for around £650 all in when people on here seemed to be reckoning closer to £1k for the work to be done properly..?) If it happens again I’ll get someone to take a proper look.

Ditto - figured if it was running ok (cruised home on the motorway at 65 perfectly happily) and not throwing a totally wobbly it can’t be too bad.
