So after much deliberation I’ve decided to ‘offer’ my Duchy Banded Amarok’s for sale. When I say ‘offer’, what I mean is I’m not desperate to sell them and if they don’t achieve the asking price, I’d rather keep them myself and run them next year as summer wheels.
A bit of background history…. I originally bought these genuine, standard VW Amarok steels from Chris @The Van Cave in late 2020, they then went on to Duchy where they were banded and finished in his smoked chrome. I received them from Duchy in January 2021 and I ran these wheels and tyres on my very light weight T28 day van with no issues at all for 12 months and covering 8000 miles.
The only reason I took them off was because I’d decided to purchase a second set of Duchy banded steels…. this time the 17” GP in chrome to which I had all season tyres fitted with the intention of running these through the rest of the winter. At this point I removed the Amarok’s from my van, thoroughly cleaned and dried the wheels and tyres, then dry stored them in my garage covered over with dust sheets. As I say I had no issues with them at all…. the wheels and tyres were immaculate and had no damage whatsoever.
Just recently I decided to have the Amarok’s professionally dipped/stripped and finished in chrome powder coat and while they’re like ‘brand new’ and haven’t yet been refitted to my van, I thought now was the best time to offer them for sale.
So the details are:- 18” Duchy Banded Amarok’s, freshly powder coated in chrome, 8.5” wide front and 9.5” wide rear (staggered). Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 Tyres…. size 255/45R18 103Y EXTRA LOAD all round. Premium tyres MADE IN GERMANY. The tyres all have at least a good 5mm of tread and are very evenly worn as you can see from the pictures.
To be brutally honest I was going to ask £1500 for this package, just because the base wheels are so sound and the premium quality of the tyres, but as the finish of the powder coat isn’t exactly 100% perfect in my eyes (but then powder coating on steel wheels probably never is), I’ve reluctantly decided to reduce that to £1400 (no offers).
Also as some of you will know, Duchy (who was the go to man for banded steels) is no longer producing these quality wheels.
