Drive Away Awning Attachment

Hi all,

We are looking into getting a drive away awning and really don't like the idea of screwing the attachment to the roof and thought about tying it down the other side of my Kombi or even to the roof bars.

Any suggestions?

Cheers
Mark

If you haven't got a pop top them you don't need to screw to the roof .
There are 4 bolts already in the roof ,which you remove and bolt the awning rail on with new bolts

It's come up before, some people like the Lightning Leisure flush awning rail, I thought it was awful and so did my van converters.

Google the Reimo Multi Rail, although it has to be screwed into the bodywork it does look the part and is quite subtle.

What was the reason for disliking ? Its almost hidden isn't it, or was it the compatibility with the kador strip. I'm only asking as I was going to order one this weekend.

Same question here. I have the Lightning Leisure awning rail, which bolts underneath the standard roof rails, and works perfectly with a Vango drive-away awning, and a DIY sunshade. It’s very subtle too.

I just didn't like the finish, it wasn't painted, had sharp edges and looked like it may cause leaks into the van.

When I got the converters to look at it they were like no way are we fitting that, I got them to fit a multi rail instead.

Horses for courses guys, just my opinion.

I now have roof bars so this may not be such a problem now.
Just didn't want to screw anything into the roof.

Cheers for the advice everyone though :)

Pick my Kombi up tonight after having it lined, insulated and sound deadened...… cant bloody wait!! :)
