Door loom repair

So the other week I had problems with my alarm going off and now I have a problem with my drivers window , sometimes it works ,sometimes it goes up while pressing down etc .
So I'm assuming the door loom has broken wires in it .
Can anyone tell me if I can get access to the door loom easily without dismantling the whole thing please ?
Its a T5.1 by the way .

That's interesting.

Not come across this before in the transporters ... But had massive problems with my old BMW estate rear tailgate loom - poor design and they were known for it.

If you can get access to VCDS you will see logs for any cable fault.... And can see live data while you wiggle the door.

The door loop Loom has a large multi way connector inside the van by the A pillar, it's above the foot kick panel...

That enable the door to be removed full intact.... The loom the goes through the loop, then to the door internals.

If a wire has snapped it would be mid loop in the bellows?

Up could try replacing individual wires,.... But it would be easier to replace the whole loom... From a breakers spare as a new one you be well expensive.

That's assuming the loom is the issue..... I'd look for water damage first and get a VCDS scan/test to see what's what.

VCDS would be great but I'm out the country for the next few weeks so thought if I could get a look at the loom that might be good first step .
I did think about buying a replacement window switch but I assume it'll be different rhd versus lhd so sourcing one abroad might be more challenging.

I could try getting the switch out and get it apart ....assuming i can get it back together without losing all the bits .

I suspect it would have to be water ingress into the switch itself to be causing the window to go in the opposite direction sometimes but not others and sometimes not working at all ?
This is what led me to thinking about broken wires in the elephants trunk (quite common on some vehicles especially the older ones) as if there was a bunch of broken wires all together . 🤔
But you are correct in this all being guesswork without any proper kit to test it .
