Door lock - retaining bracket

Hi all,

do you know what is the function of retaining bracket of door lock - number 5 in the schema?
Volkswagen Transporter Kombi (2016 - 2017) - key. lock cylinder sets. door lock. inner actuator. door handle, exterior. > VAG ETKA Online > Nemiga.com

This bracket is connected to the inner layer(metal plate) of the door and I dont know how to disconect this bracket from the door (I would like to sound proof the doors). And if I disconnect the bracked how to compose everything together?

Looks to me as though it is connected using two pop rivets (no’s 4 and 6). Therefore you’d probably need to drill the rivets out to get the bracket off. Then once done, rivet it back in place.
