Door card sliding door rubbing on outer paintwork - help!

The VW sits proud, which is now picking up all the dirt on the outside of the van The door itself looks flush, slides and shuts OK on the rollers, but the middle of the door has not even 1mm give to pull it out further before it rolls back. Any suggestions massively appreciated!!! Thanks

I wouldn't want to be adjusting the door for the sake of an embossed VW logo on the inner panel.

Aye, any fitting that increases the internal profile ofnthe sliding door is to be avoided. There is minor adjustment in the hinges but adjust it outwards and youll find the door is a poor fit when closed.

Its probably an unsatisfactory resolution for you, but the only realistic cure is to restore the inner panel to close to its standard profile before it damages the paint.

Did you do the logo and panel? You could potentially re do it in a slimmer profile if you like it.

Your one option is to take the panel off and secure a batton or a brace of some sort with sikaflex horizontally in line with the swage line thats fouling your panel between the upper and lower horizontals that sits recessed.



Once thats done you can reinstall the panel and then screw through the centre of panel into the batten resulting in the panel being pulled in toward the door and clearing the exterior bodywork.

No, it was done before I bought it. It looks great in the summer when I bought it, but now seems the practicality of it has me thinking it's not v good!

Thank you! I'll await a dry weekend and see if I can take it apart to see if I can gain a few mm!

Yep, this was the reality I think I may end up with! It was done prior to me buying it and hadn't noticed with a clean van and summer weather and now finding I'm taking a wet microfiber cloth with me for when I need to open the door to get my son in! Not ideal!
