DLR H7 holder

Hello,
Trying to get my DLR on drivers side working again. The one that was in there seemed to have a loose connection so took it out push out some of the connection points a little, cleaned points, but no cigar, came on at first then after a drive went off again. So just bought a new holder. Although I bought a genuine vw one as I couldn’t find exact one that was in there, valeo 89102096. The VW one has come without side connections and wires out the back. What am I missing (apart from the correct part and a working DLR)? Cheers

The one with wires is the revised part. Some of the contacts were causing heat build up and melting due to high resistance so VW hardwired the connector. You’d need to splice it in with solder and heat shrink.

I’ve not done it on mine. I’ve got the older style removable bulb holders in mine, but run LEDs as the current is lower.

It’d be a headlight out job, as you’d need to clip the wires, solder and heat shrink them.

Hi what is the part number for the replacement holder with wires please . I think it's 7E0998953 ....but not sure need to check as I have a 2016 Caravelle which has Valeo 89102096 DRL holder currently , one severally melted .thanks
