When removing seats to run Dc-DC wiring, do I need to disconnect the starter battery first? T6.1.
I know there are seatbelt and airbag connectors etc under the seats…
My experience with disconnecting / working on / removing anything with an airbag is to disconnect the battery and leave for 10 mins. I’ve also previously shorted the +ve and -ve disconnected battery connectors to eliminate any residual current in the system.
The other thing I’ve read is that if a component in the air bag circuit is disconnected do not turn the ignition on as it will throw an error. Eg removing the passenger air bag switch when dis-assembling the dash.
One of the things that has concerned my with the Caravelle Exec, is multiple airbag in seats and pillars, not actually 100 sure where they all are either as mine although new when bought it was a cancelled order and the handover was more akin to buying chips from a chippy on a Friday or Saturday night except you exactly what your getting from a chippy. So all I need to do to prior to snooping around in seat boxes and hiding wires in pillars is to disconnect the battery and then short out?
Dare I say I've done all mine live as I'm more afraid of confusing the ECU and or BCM with all that VCDS voodoo magic then being required rather than forgetting I've got a feed coming from the starter battery with electrical tape covering the live end.
