Cutting out whilst driving

Hi all, over the last month or so my van has cut out randomly whilst driving. Any ideas where to start looking to resolve this?

It’s concerning as it takes out the power steering and is tricky to start again.

Maybe unrelated but it’s also tricky to start sometimes, as in like the key isn’t turned enough (not struggling) if that makes sense. I thought it was just me to begin with as I’m used to a push start.

Probably the easiest way to narrow down the issue would be a scan for faults

Thank you, would this be logged somewhere then and would a basic scanner work or do I need to take it to a specialist/garage? No error lights have shown on the dash etc. Thanks

Ideally a dedicated VW scanner - VCDS, OBDeleven etc. but you could try a generic scanner first just in case it finds something.
