CTEK D250SE IGN feed issues + possible failing starter battery on T6.1

Hi all,
Looking for some help with a 2022 T6.1 and a CTEK D250SE install.

I’ve been trying to find a clean ignition‑live feed for the CTEK IGN wire. I originally used Fuse 40, then tried Fuse 47, but both behave inconsistently. Sometimes the CTEK shows the orange IGN light when I unlock the van, sometimes only when I turn the key, and sometimes not at all. It also drops out a couple of seconds after removing the key.

The bigger issue is that the van’s starter battery now appears to be dying. I charged it for nearly 24 hours, drove a couple of miles, came home, and the van wouldn’t start again. The engine‑management light also came on when the battery voltage dropped.

At this point I’m trying to work out:

- Is this just a failing starter battery causing all the weird behaviour?
- Has anyone found a reliable ignition‑only feed on the T6.1 interior fuse panel?
- Do VW dealers replace the starter battery under warranty if it’s failing?
- And will they refuse to touch anything related to the CTEK wiring?

Any advice from people who’ve fitted a DC‑DC charger to a T6.1 would be massively appreciated.

1. Possibly, disconnect the ctek / leisure battery and find out. Check the alternator output voltage at the starter battery terminals with the engine running.
2. I have a T6 which is the centre row on the dash fusebox, VIP Membership gets you access to fuse panel diagrams, drawings and manuals on the Forum.
3. Check the term’s of the Warranty, they don’t do anything without a fight, especially if third party modifications may have caused it.
4. No chance of VW getting involved in aftermarket mod’s, I suggest you disconnect the CTEK feed if you are planning a trip to the dealer for battery warranty purposes.
