Converting a 3 seat bench to 2 seats?

To quote the film 'spinal tap', "it's a fine line between clever and stupid".....

Has anyone ever literally chopped the left hand seat off a 3 seat bench? I would like to have two seats in the centre floor brackets, so I don't have to put new brackets in the floor

I'm sure there's pros and cons, but curious if anyone has ever done it?

Sounds like more work than adding new floor brackets.
I would think that your insurance company may well ask questions if there’s an accident with personal injury

You could probably sell your triple and pick up a double on its own for similar money or only a fraction more. Worth doing it properly as cutting the foam will be a right mess, unless to you took it to an upholsterer but then it would be dearer than the 2 seater in the first place which defeats the point..

I think getting a double kombi seat is a better option. You could buy / fit just 2 extra floor fixings on the outer O/S (easiest ones to fit - no fuel tank to drop!) then you wouldnt need to change the flooring.

You would end up with two redundant floor brackets but you wouldnt need to swap the flooring. Plus, I very much doubt you’d find flooring with only the 4 double kombi cut outs - you’d need a full van plain flooring to make your bespoke cut outs.

Cost wise I think it would be fairly low cost to change - perhaps £150 ish.
