Hi all,

so I just wanted to run this by people. See thoughts

Vw T6 Startline, just 2 door speakers originally and crappy head unit.
Currently have a HAudio Carplay 10.1 inch unit and a set of FLI in the rear. System goes off when volume is turned up so generally very quiet. this is down to the built in amp in the head unit.

Proposal.
Taramps TS 400x4
Alpine SXE-1750S speakers and tweeters (tweeters will need full instal as not currently present at all.
3d printed door things for the offsets
with tht eFLI in the rear and a bit of deadening in the doors...

anyone spot any issues?

no one? well i decided to pull the trigger but i went for the Taramps TS 400x4 and the JBL Stage 3 607CF. I hav 3D printed somr door adapters and i am going to gab sme sound deadening.

Any other tips appreciated, foams etc?

Hi thought I’d update this post. So I’ve bought a JBL stage 3. 3d printed some speaker mounts and some tweeter mounts. Pics attached.

Wasn’t happy with my £55 head unit, today I bought the 13 inch one on amazon so will see how that performs.

I think that I’m doing it on the cheap. I’ve spent 10’s of thousands on home audio, the difference between a system that’s 2k and 10k is so minimal that my big ears can’t really understand it, but the difference between a £300 and. 2k system is clear and obvious.

So on to the van. A high end system would cost maybe 2-3k. I do about 1000 miles a year and usually listen to podcasts! Occasional music. The base system is dire, awful. This is noticeably a huge improvement. Better to spend £100 on sound deadening rather than a higher level of speaker. jbl cost me £100, cables etc £50. Amp, £70. New android head unit £250. All in its a pretty cheap system still but sounds really good.

If you change the head unit, won't you loose all the car menu etc functionality (5f module), unless you get one that has all that integrated in it.

5f? I’m driving a start line btw. The can barely came with electric windows (this is what I wanted, simplicity. Nothing that can break!)

Another member of the keep it simple, Startline club. I've not touched the audio yet in my four years of ownership. I've done all the cab and doors sound deadening. So guess sounds should be next. Like your simple approach, what headunit did you go with then. I do listen to a lot of radio and have noted a lot of the cheaper end rely on you using an app for the DAB radio.

Oh man. This will be my forth set up in 9 years of ownership.

I’ll post some details when it’s all in but this time I have a 250 quid android head unit.

The car before the van used to cost me a fortune in maintenance much prefer this

Yeah so I’ve installed it. For the price it’s nothing short of amazing. You get a replacement dash with it. Hardest part is swapping the vents over. Of course I broke them! I’m not to fussed but very impressed with the whole thing

Claims to work with the OEM reversing camera and everything! What’s the actual audio output like though, I can’t see any mention of that on the spec?
