Camperglass window not flush with van.

Hi there, just got a camperglass window fitted recently and my OCD is really triggering me when it comes to it being a flush fit! As you can see at the top and bottom of the window it does not sit completely flush with the bodywork of the van, no issues with who fit it at all. I’m curious to know does anyone else’s look like this or have I just got a dodgy window that doesn’t match the curvature of my van ?

By the way the seal is fine and there are no leaks.

It's normal to have a gap with the after market windows.

The glass is flat, but the van body curved, so you get a gap.

The glass is bonded on with a 10mm bread of adhesive, so it depends on how flat the glass is pushed in when it cures.

They even so a trim piece that you can buy

I've got camper glass on mine ... I'll take some pics tomorrow for you t to compare.

That’d be great thank you!

I too have the Campervan glass fitted. You have had two opinions above. Yes an No. Mine is very similar to yours, so I’d fall on the side of yes it’s fine. (Sorry @Smackmycook) 😉. No offence, but I do get what you mean as it’s not as ‘tight’ as a OEM glass. The OEM glass is obviously a much flusher fit. Like you, when I collected mine after fitting my OCD tripped a bit too. Again no issue with fitter, (top bloke) no leaks etc. I did mention it to my guy and he liked to ensure there was a good amount of adhesive underneath. His experience was (through trial and error and sorting/repairing other peoples fitting when owners came to him with leaks) was play it safe and don’t push the back end in to far. Also I think the glass curvature on the CV Glass (or certainly on mine) doesn’t lend itself to being fully flush. If you look at mine below and yours, if you try and remove the gap top and bottom the centre would pretty much foul the bodywork. 🤷‍♂️ (this has been borne out by chats with ‘other’ fitters too).
As said above there are edge protectors you can buy and fit. I did and it visually now ‘looks right’. Soon as fitted these I was ultra happy.
Others may have different experiences with this brand or alternatives may sit better, I guess there are always going to be fitting, van panel pressing and glass manufacturing tolerances.

BTW the seals are a doddle to fit and inexpensive 👍

I’m always looking for at others peoples vans (sad I know) and some are the same, some slightly less. I’m interested know what others say now. 👍

I based my opinion on the windows I had fitted on my first van by Snugcampers. I'm sure they were Camperglass and I certainly don't recall such a big gap at the top/bottom.....

So my gap is around 3mm at the middle.

And about 6mm at the top and bottoms.

Nice one thank you! I will have to have a measure up later and let you know what mine is roughly, I’m sure they all differ solely down to how they’ve been manufactured but we will see.

Mine did was the same and I was horrified after spending half a day carefully cutting the hole and prepping.
Thankfully I noticed it straight away so parked the van next to a lamp post then carefully tapped in a peice of wood to push it against the van body while it set.

It's fairly normal..

Curved van body, but flat glass.

So you get slight gaps..... Doesn't both me but some people don't like it.

Look out for the edging strips that fit over the glass to fill in the gap.

Anyone got a link for them?

Can you fit these strips afterwards though or do they need to go in at time of fitting the windows ?
We fitted our glass years ago and can't say I've noticed a gap like that ...but now I must look

Can you fit these strips afterwards
As above if fitting rear quarter you’d be better fixing them before. If, like me you only have the crew cab and slider window it’s an easy retro fit.
They have an adhesive strip in the U. channel. Peel off backing, push home and trim edges to suit. Or…. Dry fit. Trim, then stick.

EPLS 👍

Hello again, thanks for all the input and replies, I purchased the edge trim from Camperglass and it looks a little better. By the sounds of it they all vary a little so I’m going to live with it!

@Creaser do you have images? I’ve purchased them also but apparently the adhesive attaches to the rear of the window? How did you do it?

Yes, it attached to the rear of my window so was pretty easy to do but I did mess up a little as I was impatient and didn’t stick and peel! Just stuck it straight on. If you have more patience you’ll be fine, very easy to do.
