Broken springs:

ideally, yes.

On the one hand, unless its ancient the sprining performance won't have degraded much - they tend to be fine, fine, fine, fine, then suddenly drop off a cliff, rather than degrade slowly like dampers do as the oil ages.

On the other, if one has gone it's likely that its counterpart won't be far behind.

I was under the rear of my van (T6 T28) to replace the spare wheel and I noticed what appears to be part of a broken spring at the top of the rear coil springs, on both sides. They are obviously a smaller diameter than the main springs, so what are they?
Thanks

Hi, hoping you (or someone else) may be able to help... T6 T28 (2018) failed MOT today because of a broken rear spring, which also has 4 yellow marks , same as in your photo. Please can you help with identifying which model number of rear spring is required to replace them? Thanks
