Black wire and White wire??? Help needed please.

Morning Folks,

I have an LED reversing lamp that has 2 wires coming out of it. One Black and one White.

Which is positive and which is ground??

I would guess black = negative but there’s no real way of telling for sure, just stick the wires across a 12v supply, if they are correct the light will illuminate if they are backwards it will not

Thanks for that...did it and all is well. Black was live and White was ground.
