BEVEL BOX LEEK

Evening all
I thought I'd let you in on a new problem I encountered with my T6 DSG 4Motion 204. Following an oil change in January, the garage found a oil damp patch (sweat patch) if you like on the Bevel box/transfer case box attached to the gearbox. VW want £6500 to replace it although I have an extended warranty with them that expires in December but apparently does not cover leaks. What I want to know is if there was a recall on this part in the past that may help me deal with VW customer service and get them to sort their shit out???

If not, does anybody know of any reliable VW commercial vehicle expert technician other than VW direct that may do the job. I'm based in Surrey?

Mate, this 2019 Kombi Vans my baby. I have its oil changed every six months. Everything is up to date such as 4 motion Haldex oil, DSG oil, cambelt, water pump the lot is up to date. My idea is to keep it because I dont like the interior of the T6.1 and I most certainly cant stand the Transit Custom T7 model either.

Mine has the comfort dash and factory fitted sunroof and although there is a damp patch leak coming from the Bevel box which thank god at this stage is not critical accorfing to VW's technician although its been their coming up to 1 year he said not to bother replacing it. But its playing up on my mind!!!

Tbh, if it's not critical, then I couldn't consider shelling out £6.5k... even if was playing for England in the world cup final!

It drives beautiful. You'd never know the leak existed. I was wondering if there was a way round VW. They told me that the Bevel box oil itself is irreplaceable. In other words, it never gets replaced regardless of any problems. is that true?

Is it not just a case of replacing a gasket? Genuine question as I don't know
Oh, I wish it was Ali
From what I've read and been told, there is a poxy resin type gasket repair which may be carried out, but knowing my luck, it probably get ruled out

Take it to an AWD specialist for a second opinion on the nature of the repair required. You can bet such a place will have seen it before and know a fix that doesnt entail throwing entire assemblies away and fitting a new one before giving you a class 1 walletectomy.

The interweb shows a few fourbie specialists in your neck of the woods, worth making a brew and sitting down with the phone.

Anyway, either way, for now, its all good and stable and therefore gonna be left alone. if and when a problem arises, I'll definately get it sorted one way or another but probably not through VW. I reckon I can get it replaced for no more than £4000 if the worst comes to the worst.

If I wasn't keeping it, then I'd consider a new Vito 119 Crew Cab Van Auto as VW have ruined the new Transporter. Best ever made is the T6 and earlier. T6.1 are a beautiful van on the outside but the dash is crap. I chose my T6 over a T6.1 in January 2020. I gave back a T6 17Reg hoping that the new T6.1 would be better but I couldnt stand the dash on the T6.1. I told my dealer in Croydon at the time that this is it for me, looks like I'm going to Mercedes and he told me to holdup and have a look at a brand new T6 19reg that never got sold the previous year due to its cost at the time with zero mileage still on the clock. When I saw it, I ripped his arm off LOL. He offered me a good deal.
