Best pack out tool box system

Hi,

My son is 2 years into his electrical installation apprenticeship and is about to commence his 2 years on the tools. T level results in August!

Anyway, he wants a pack out system and just wondered what the Trades people on the forum recommend?

The dewalt system was on offer at Screwfix at £159 but back up to 199. He has some dewalt tool cases which his drill, drivers etc came in. TBH the linking catches look a bit fragile.

Anyway whats hot and whats not!?

PS no fighting between the Dewalt / Milwaukee fans

I also have tough system 2.0 but the actual Milwaukee packout system is way better and the system has better accessories. Most sparks i see on site use Packout

Im a carpenter, i have toughbuilt stacktech.
Loads of attachment and accesories for it. If you lad is a sparky, they have an attachment for rolls of cable etc.
They have been on and off of offer in screwfix etc, think rheyre a good price in selco too.

Tough system 2 is what I use latch’s are very durable a lad that works for me uses the Milwaukee and says that’s also very good! It has to be one of them 2 for me

slightly off subject but massive fan of the Veto Pro Pack totes. Their rucksacks for hand tools are amazingly strong. Son is gas engineer and loves the one I brought him which is still going strong after 3 years which was the lifespan of his previous packs. I see a lot of sparkies using smaller open top totes

expensive but as the saying goes pay cheap pay twice+

wish someone had instilled this into me as a youth, must have gone through 3 chop saws until I settled on and could afford a Makita

Plus one for the the Dewalt Toughsystem although mine are the original version but still going strong

Remember if it’s on wheels it’s also easier to steal.

I’m an an electrician that owns a dust pan and two brushes and a broom and a vacuum cleaner!
I’ve been looking at this.
I think the the drawers would be very useful especially if some dividers were added.

The milwaukee system with the drawers is really handy. If you get a system without drawers you're obliged lift off the boxes and rummage though the box you need. If you have drawers you can leave them as a stack and pullout the drawer you want. They do a 2,3 or 4 drawer unit. The 4 drawer box is pretty handy for hand tools and you can put the provided dividers in them to make it even easier. I have the 2 drawer boxes of the power tools, you can get 3 or 4 tools in each drawer depending on which tools they are. Everything in it's place and a place for everything....

As an apprentice he's not going to need a ton of kit, I was still managing with a big and little tool bag and a Milwaukee bag.
Drill boxes tended to stay in the van along with the larger tool bag.
Been out of the game for six years now but the pile of boxes tended to be a way for da yoof to get their blue tooth boom box on site more than carry every single tool they had around, at 60watts DeWalt and their legendary muddy bass was the weapon of choice.

Packout also have a front opening drawer for the main large tool box at the bottom of the trolley to save having to dismantle all the boxes if there was a few drawer systems. The toughsystem 2 I have does the job for me but I'd go down packout route if I started again

Went for this one. Initially wasn’t sure about the drawers by a) can be swapped out for something else and b) I have a roller cabinet on the bench and its easy to find stuff!
