Hey everyone, New to the forum. Brought a T6 Trendline ( barn door ) a few weeks back, full conversion with Poptop, I'm totally obsessed already, between buying Golf Clubs and the Camper the wifes probably not realised yet I couldnt have picked 2 more expensive money pits as hobbies lol.

I'm wanting to get the works done in the van to make things as easy and as tidy as possible but struggling to know whats best options. Im looking for the following

1. New head unit with APPs like Google maps,
2. reversing camera kit
3. Dash cam
4. TV for rear ( brought a head rest mount ) but struggling to find a small telly ( like 17" with smart capablity )
5. Alarm system ( Been told the Clifford 330X1 links into the existing key locking fob instead of a seperate ? )
6. Wifi 4G router, using a three sim only unlimited data deal.
7. Toebar for bike rack.

Now For the head unit i've been looking at the Alpine halo 9, mainly because it looks good popping out the dash and has reversing cameras. But im not sure if that would actually be overkill, as this bit of kit :

Looks pretty good, which has reversing and dashcam capablity so wouldnt need it on the alpine.

Then been looking at this for a Wifi router : https://www.amazon.co.uk/E5330-3G-Unlocked-Networks-Configuration-Required/dp/B07Z5LWMNZ/

Is there a particular set of products, you would recommend which all link together where appropirate. Open to different options and different budgets, im assuming nearly all of the above could be fitted by an audio/visual mobile fitter if i could find one, but im trying to find one who's worked with campers and can advise with additional 12v sockets etc seems difficult in sunny Norfolk.

Apologies for so much info that may or may not be relevant. Many thanks for any replies, be gentle :D

I can only answer re the wifi, to say I've had 2 Three network Mifi Huawei devices over the last 10 years and they've been brilliant. Only replaced the first one because the USB cable port connection became intermittent for charging.

I am always confused by people wanting a separate 4G router and paying another tariff when their smartphone will do the same job in Hotspot mode? Am I missing something?

Thanks for the reply, thats good to know. Is there a particular one you recommend ? Am I ok with one which doesnt have an antena outside ?

Also have you got it plugged in perminantly or do you just keep charging it ? I'm thinking of getting it mounted next to the heater controls etc and hard wiring ( if thats even possible ? )

For us its mainly because im with Vodafone which is scetchy coverage depending on the area. The wifes with EE but its highly likely some days we are away, I will need to stay behind and work from the van, if its only the wifes EE signal thats any good, it means id have to keep the wifes phone while her and the kiddy went off for the day.

Plus im not a fan of constantly charing the phone when everyones tethering from it :D

If you’re getting a new head unit anyway then definitely put the reversing camera through that, decent head units that do things like Apple car play or Google maps will usually have a camera input.

Spend £70 on a Kenwood CMOS 230 camera and you’ve got a very neat solution without having to change the rear view mirror or putting a monitor on the dash.

I did think that as the Alpine Halo 9 has that functionality or i think there is a similar Kenwood which also allows for wing mirror and front camera too. But I liked the idea of a dashcam ( and currently dont have a rear view mirror ) so didnt want to double up on functionality.

But thats why i wanted to ask here about it as i could be thinking completely wrong or not be considering the right gear.

Lots of Kenwood units will take a reverse camera input too, I think some will also do dash cam.

You might be best talking to someone like @Absolut5 on here who specialises in this stuff, to either do it for you or provide the parts so you can do it yourself.

Id almost certainly need someone to do it lol, although I am technically minded and could probably do it with a few hours of swaring, I also like things tidy and done properly so would rather pay for it than use my own time :D
