Awning Skirt/Baffle

Has anyone got any experience of awning skirts/baffles?

I was looking at the inflatable Kyham baffle but a friend purchased one earlier this year and is currently on his 3rd as the first one, and its replacement, deflated overnight.

The Fiamma skirt looks OK but I have seen a review saying they won't clip to alloy wheels, also I'm a little concerned about there, apparently, being no means to peg out and stop them flapping if the wind gets up (which would seem to defeat the object of having)?

Any other options?

@Simmo49 as someone who's used Vango awnings for sometime do you have any experience with these skirts/baffles?

Thanks, Dave.

Hi Dave

I've got the Kyham baffle and it worked fine on my SWB Sportline T5.1 but is a bit short in length for the LWB T6 I've got now (leaves a gap of about a foot between the wheelbase on the T6 LWB and both vans had/have factory side bars fitted)

It kept pumped up for a couple of days when using it previously but after using it just once on the T6 it picked up a number of punctures and seems to have gone 'brittle' over time (3 years old)

It's now in the garage stored deflated but not folded up in the box as being folded seems to have caused the problems but will try and use it again next time and see how it goes.

Maybe some under body protection that can hinge down and also act as a skirt??

That was my thought @Fish . It’s the positioning I was pondering over. Any pics to share please?
I’m in the process of fitting sidebars and it’s something that can tag along when sorting.

I bought from a lady on eBay a skirt, which she makes, which is basically a length of good quality tent fabric with an elasticated length running along the top which you literally put around the wheels at the required height to hold it up. It had eyelets along the bottom with which to fix it down.
It works amazingly well, rolls up to nothing and is indestructible.
If you want I would be very happy to post it to you so you could have a play, you can post it back when you have finished with it.
In the meantime I will see if I can locate her (but it was a couple of years ago I bought it)

Jo ended up making something similar using tent base fabric but attaches via magnets along the length and also covers the wheel arch.

Jo's DIY version - sized to cover the position and width of our Fiamma Privacy Room - magnets positioned all along to fit securely around the side panels and below the sliding door, which easily clears. No issues with strip up the side of the passenger door as once the awning and room are deployed we can't use that door anyway - bonus is it provides a bit of paintwork protection from tables/chairs/etc. when we are using the room:-

Anyone know the type of fabric used by the likes of Rainbow screens? I’d like to use it to make up an awning skirt.

The VanShades Insulated Pop Top Wrap has a special insulated layer sandwiched between the outer and inner hydro coated polyester to keep your vehicle warmer during cooler months/climates.
