Hi fellow vw,ers ..is there any Decent walk though videos on how to install.interior lights and switches for my van ,im trying to do what i can myself..please x

You might find a couple on YouTube. Have you got any auto electric experience?

It’s fairly straight forward. If you’ve got a fuse box under one of the front seats or in the back, that will make things light easier.

No i havent mare but im quite handy ,i think if id seen it done i wouldnt be far off knowing how its done..but if its too difficult ill get someone to do it.
Atm i have x 2 subs under the seats ...is that where the fuse box usually is as i got my sound system upgraded just recently ?

we fitted these from the T6F shop.

not a video as such, but you get the idea.

we just paired up the front half of new LEDS and connected it to the existing light fitting wiring and left the original fitting unplugged.

same with the rear.

FYI we had the Factory LED options so only had the two wires in the loom, and no switch on the existing light.

You can add a two way switch into the mix for switching them off as required.

you can add a three way switch to enable off/on via BCM/ON via battery feed. But for this to work you would need a fused link cable from your Aux battery Positive or a switched 0v depending on which way you have it.

It looks like most systems are constant ground and switched +ve

so basically you just wire lights to the interior front and back lights but if i wanted a switch on to switch on and off id have to do it another way?

Yes you can connect up to the existing lights.

there is a 7.5A fuse so you cant go crazy adding lights, when we done it we connected up the rear LED`s but we left the rear bulbs out of the standard light fittings . . . .

but if you have the 3wire setup then it seems you will have a 15 min - ish shut off timer.

but if you have the 2wire / LED setup then it seems you will have a 60 min - ish shut off timer.

If you want a seperate switch . . . . .

you can add a relay/fuse/switch to shunt your new lights over to the Leisure battery feed . . . . .

as being discussed at the bottom here >>>>> Led Rear Interior Lights - How I Done It.

or

you could just run your new lights direct from your leisure battery with a new cable/fuse/switch . . . . but be mindful of not letting your leisure battery run to low, or fit a low battery shuttoff or battery monitor to protect it.

Yeah del I've just bought 6 touch lights does this affect anything becusebthere touch screen ones?
Im bust jusy trying to buy all the kit for all electrics and once I've got it all im going to attempt to wire it all up ,am i right that the ec155 basically connects everything to the lesiure battery? Or am i out my depth in trying to get all the power in myself?

@Mickymiff, it might be worth you talking to @Fish as he has an EC something or other that controls a lot of stuff. Take a look at his “fish’s T6.1” thread. It may say more on there.

Ec155 is a distribution box, battery charger and split charger in one unit.

The split charger is not suitable for the T6 as it has a smart alternator, and apparently the ampage of the split charging is woeful.

You can however hook up a 240v socket to the EC155 and then when you're on grid you can charge your battery by the inbuilt charger. And if wired correctly, can use the 12v fuses built within the EC155 along with the 240v MCB's. In my opinion you are better to purchase individual items for this and you can put them wherever you want.

I don't know about different EC units though as mentioned by @DaveyB

Hey thanks for that advice @drew_greenday so im better off buying like a ctek and a split relay charger etc rather than the ec155 or 160? Please you said that cos i was going to order one tonight.
Is there anywhere on here where there is a list of what you need to do all electrics so people like me can buy something each week to cover costs and start doing electrics in the correct stages?
