Thanks for that. Which head unit did you replace? The basic one with no Sat Nav? Im currently trying to decide if to go with an Alpine Halo or upgrade mine to the OEM with 8" screen and sat navI’ve got the halo 9 in mine, felt the 11 was a touch too big for me.
Bought via eBay with a voucher and then sourced all the adaptors and connectors separately, what I saved on the unit price via eBay I should have just ordered as a kit from @Absolut5 and saved hassle.
It’s a good unit - very easy to use, quick to connect and flick through menus etc. still have everything I did originally (apart from the usb sockets as I didn’t get the kit from absolut to retain)
Screens brilliant and the sat nav is a lot easier to see while driving which was the main reason I bought it.
Sound is better via the original speakers, albeit it’s a minefield in set up options, and will no doubt sound better again with upgraded speakers.
I’ve got a fire stick connected to mine, and again, very good picture streaming through that.
Only grip for me is the sheer amount of cables and adaptors required to actually install it. Insane. And means it’s very tight to get back into the dash. I’ve also got a few more rattles since installing behind the dash, which is no doubt down to the additional cables etc so something to sort in the future.
Anything specific you need answering let me know.

I stand corrected, thought that was one of the reasons I choose the Kenwood but obviously not lolHalo 9 and 11 are both wireless CarPlay![]()
But not wireless android auto yet unfortunatelyHalo 9 and 11 are both wireless CarPlay![]()
To be fair, I was very close to choosing the kenwood as well as always favoured the brand in my younger years.I stand corrected, thought that was one of the reasons I choose the Kenwood but obviously not lol
The 9720xds is a superb unit with its best in class screen quality, fast and intuitive, but it’s not the best for the T6.1 as it does sit quite far from the dash, but mainly the integration for the vehicle settings/information and graphics of those , that truly lets it down compared to the Alpine , it retains in on the touch screen like factory, where the Kenwood moves the adjustment to the steering wheel, which is very tricky to use . Lastly the Alpine keeps the Oe microphone .When I was choosing a few years back the Halo 11 wasnt out, but instead of the Halo 9 I opted for the Kenwood DMX 9720 XDS, if i was going to fit an aftermarket into the 6.1 id 100% be ok with choosing the same unit again.
I put USB and HDMI into the glovebox so I could have a firestick plugged in all the time, ( although its rare it gets used if im honest lol )
Silly but i liked the fact the kenwood volume dial etc matched the vans air controls etc. I thought the Halo 9 didnt have wireless carplay but i've just been corrected it has.
