Android Head Unit No Steering wheel Controls

I've just fitted an Android head unit to my 2017 T6 using a wiring harness and canbus adaptor. Everything seems to work, including the reverse camera except the steering wheel controls. When I try and map them on the head unit, the buttons on the steering wheel do nothing and I can't map them. I've seen others have had problems but I can't see a solution posted. Im pulling my hair out trying to sort this. Anyone have a fix?
