Hi
Following the advice I found on this forum, I changed my T6.1 oem front door speakers for a pair of Gladen One, and also did a throrough 3 tier sound deadening of the doors. I have no sub nor back speakers.
The result is much better, my ears don't hurt anymore
But still, I find the highs to be a little bit harsh. One other member of this forum, it seems, gave a similar feed-back.
Since I kept the oem MIB2GP radio amp, I wonder if this could one of the reasons to this feeling, because this amp would have high distortion perhaps ? But I listen at relatively low levels.
I had not planned to change the amp, but since this is annoying me a bit I am considering putting a 4ch amp + dsp, hoping that might bring out the full potential of the Gladens.
After some research, I found those Puzu amps : Puzu PZ-C7 or PZ-C31S with integrated DSP to seem quite serious, qualitative, and very competitively priced. Before I give it a try I wanted to post here a set of question :
- Do you think my relative unsatisfaction with the Gladen could be caused by the oem amp, and that the installation of a decent amp could be the good move ? (another solution I read on this forum suggested a 3db loss from the tweeter by a crossover cable cutting. But I did not find that very satisfactory, as I fear that the loss of the harshness would also mean the loss of my highs. But still I could also consider trying that)
- Anybody tried the Puzu amps ?
- Can those amps be placed somewhere behind the T6.1 dashboard (the biggest one, C31S, measuring 177mmX138mmX46mm) ?
- If I go the amp+dsp route, I would be curious to try to replace the Gladens passive crossover by an active crossover, by allocating one channel to every loudspeaker (so 2 channels for the 2 woofers with low pass filter, and 2 channels for the 2 tweeters with high pass filters). I would of course unsolder the passive filter provided with the tweeters. Anybody tried this ? What would be the cut-off frequency you would suggest between the Gladens woofers and the tweeters ?
Many questions in one post, I recognize
But thanks for your input
