Am i going mad?? Factory heated seat check please

Hi all,
Can I ask people out there with factory heated seats a question as I think I might be losing it. I've done a search on here and no luck.
If I turn on both drivers and bench heated seats they stay on and get toasty.
If get out and lock the van when I get back in and start up, the drivers seat automatically is at the same setting as when engine off.
The passenger seat however is switched off and needs to be switched back on.
I'm sure it was never like that before but I'm doubting myself now?.......is that standard, do they all do that?
Also while doing a search I read that they only heat up if someone is sat on them? I didn't know that was the case. Is there a weight limit? I've been putting it on for the dog but he is only small and wondering if it's even turning on for him

I'm, I've got factory heated seats on my 2018 van.... But for the life of me can't remember whether they remember the setting or not.

I'll have to give it a go tomorrow and see what happens.

What spec or year is your van anyway?

If its of any consolation, my Audi does the same thing.
Drivers side auto on, passenger side manually operated.
Might be a VAG thing.

Could be.....it may have always been like that?
I suppose it makes sense as the drivers side will definitely be occupied haha

Don’t really know about the passenger side but drivers side seems to depend how long I've left it - if I get out for 5/10 minutes it remembers the setting but if it’s a long time it’s off when I get back in.

2022 6. 1 drivers side will remember setting if for a short period of say an hour or so but won’t remember overnight. Passenger will shut off after ignition is turned off.
Passenger does warm up with no one sat in it as I pick my daughter up from work and she likes the seat pre warmed in the winter months

Interesting- Neither of my seats will heat up if no one’s sitting in them.
