Age over miles

I bought a 2017 T6 about 18 months ago, it had been a works van for 3 years doing about 75k miles in that time. All VW services, history of it being nicely looked after. Then it was sold and bought for conversion which all in, took around a year, then the owners before me had it for about 3 years and put on about 10k miles in that time. From memory, I think mostly that was in the first year of ownership. So I bought it with about 85k on the clock, but it hadn't been used much for 2 years. I started using it weekly (maybe a few times a week) and have had quite a few issues (alternator, egr cooler, egr cooler pipe, leisure battery, abs sensors, etc). In hindsight I would definitely go for a van that was still being used regardless of mileage vs one that had been sitting around unused.
Nice looking thing with a tailgate, but only the 5 speed model (perfectly adequate).
Better engine and gearbox, albeit the mileage is creeping up. I know reds not everyone’s cuppa, but a top half white wrap suits.
MOT history on the grey one suggests its been better looked after, although it has an outstanding recall.
5 speed is fine if you're of that mind. People claim its not a strong box, but do a search on this forum of gearbox or clutch faults and the numerically far more common 5 speed gets relatively few mentions compared to the alternatives, suggesting the reality isn't as bold as the legend.

Budget with conversion around 33k. Ideally T6.1, air con/ rear sensors the only must have. Bhp 110 …
If you’re happy with a 5 speed 110bhp then the worlds your oyster really. Most have the business pack which gets you the all important air con.

Yes, i dont know what they paid for van but overall cost with new cambelt, spray on bottom half, new alloys, splitter, sidebars autotherm diesel heater, Awning rail, solar, vulcan bed with matched upholstery, kitchen etc is coming in at £33,500. 12 month habitation warranty and 6 month mechanical.
