Hi I’m now installing my leisure battery and electrics. I want to be able to switch my alpine head unit from either vehicle battery and then leisure when we camping.

does anyone have a wiring diagram as to how to achieve this? I have wire and switches. Just need to know how to go about it.
Cheers.

You should have the yellow wire connected to your leisure battery via a 20 amp fuse. The red wire can be done in two ways. Both ways will require a 5 amp fused supply from the centre column of your fuse box and a 5 amp fused supply from your leisure battery. Method one: Using a three position switch, connect centre pin of switch to red on head unit. Connect outer pins of switch to the two 5 amp fused supplies. Method two: Uses a simple on/off switch and 2 x 3 amp diodes. Connect the two diodes together on the band side and connect to red wire to radio. Connect the other end of the diodes as follows: one to 5 amp fused ign supply and one to output of switch. Input of switch connects to 5 amp fused supply from leisure battery.
The headunit will switch on as normal with the ignition when driving or from the switch when parked with method two. method one requires the switch to be in the required position.

can I pipe in here a moment ? how about if one likes the feature that the alpine halo 9 switches on when doors are open ? how do you still get that feature using the above method ? in other words im looking to do the same thing have the 3 pos switch... I want it to run as normal when im driving but be able to manually switch to leisure when parked up .
any info would be greatly appreciated thanks

What about using a relay switched by an ignition live? Use the NC position to power it from the leisure battery and put the starter battery connection to the NO pole. That way it would be powered from the leisure battery until you turned the key.

It shouldn't affect your Halo feature.

All done but I do get a can communication error when switched to leisure Battery I guess that’s unavoidable ?
Another question is the 5 amp fuse leisure battery feed vital? my feed from switch has no 5 amp fuse .
