I have searched old threads. I have normally taken out recovery with insurance but realised that Nationwide BS recovery, via AA, includes campers up to 3.5 tonnes has any one used this (as I do with car) and is covered

Many thanks

I have used the AA just the once when like a total chump I somehow managed to lock they keys in my van when miles from home. Theyre were there swiftly, and the chapwas familiar with the model and was in fairly sharpish. No complaints.

The AA seemed to have seriously bucked their ideas up over the last half decade, whereas the RAC have plumbed new depths of crapness.

Agree, RAC are appalling, I don’t know how they’re still in business.

I don't consciously look out for them but I really can't remember the last time that I saw a RAC van on the road - have noticed quite a few (maybe) ex-RAC now in plain clothes though as well as AA.

Last time my wife needed the RAC, after someone drove into her parked car and smashed the rear end in, the RAC took 16 hours.

Being a vulnerable customer, disabled, not very mobile, and needing to be home by normal bed time in order to take her injections made her a priority! That was November 2023 - if a priority customer took 16 hours to attend to then a regular Joe would probably still be sat there waiting today.

Thank you. I may just use them via my Nationwide Bank rather than pay for separate cover
👍
That's what we do for our car and van via Nationwide. Covers the person in the vehicle and not the vehicle, UK & EU. Cheapest we will get for both vehicles.
Used it in France a couple of years ago and very happy, even though the car took 6 weeks to be relayed home and repaired under extended warranty.

Many thanks seems the most sensible thing to do and will save me £90. As for lost cars, many years ago, my car broke down in York and I went home on the train the AA lost track of it in Birmingham took weeks to get it back🤦🏻‍♂️😊. I managed to locate it somewhere up north again

The AA will drop cars off in lay-bys and side streets as they shuttle recovered vehicles around the country. Invariably leaving the keys somewhere 'secret' for the next driver....

i dont believe the rac are an accident recovery service.
that is theremit of the insurance company . if on the schedule.
i always rotate between the rac and aa.
some great savings are to be made.
ivee needed recoveering twice in twenty odd years once with the aa and whist towing a caravan.
once for a clutch faliure with th rac .
i would not hesitate to recommend either.
however if my car is damaged in an accident , i will call my insurance , who wlil organise everything for me and a courtesy car and hotel if needed

The last time , with the van clutch , I said drop it here , at garage X , and take me home .
I posted the keys and cracked on with life
Did everything perfect and nothing was a trouble

Its very much in their remit. Recovery following a collision is covered on the appropriate RAC policy with the Accident Care Service option.

RAC Accident Care is a 24/7 service included with membership that provides end-to-end support following a vehicle accident. It includes roadside rescue, vehicle recovery...

Thank you

My main concern was would the recovery service offered by the bank be good enough for the van .. it would appear so

Prior to the bank’s offering breakdown service I always alternated or played them off for the lowest quote - never been let down by them apart from the lost car all those years ago

looks like I’m ok with the bank recovery provided 👍
