Advice needed please!!

That’s one thing I am mindful of is the size, would a LWB be more difficult to drive and park in Europe if we did go abroad. But also in the UK, finding parking spots that would allow us to still see towns etc
Driving and parking a LWB in mainland Europe is no different than in the UK, except the roads are quieter. I did 10 weeks last year Spain/Portugal and the whole of this Feb in Spain amongst other trips. The LWB is not an issue.

LWB never an issue even in tight parking spaces. There’s always scope to poke a nose or tail over the line slightly without anyone ever mentioning it. It takes 60 seconds to get used to the longer vehicle. You’ll never look back. The +400mm inside is a godsend on wet days or when you have extra space needs like a dog.

I prefer SWB . Driving on the road I could get on with anything, long wheel bases does one need to be a little more aware of the rear end in tight turns junctions etc, not a problem, most people can not even drive hatchbacks and properly negotiate those thing so what will be different. Off road long wheel base vehicles can have poor ramp over problems not too sure about some ferries. Campers are some of the most interesting parkers at the supermarket:D. Not content with taking more than one place extra front too rear if LWB, they often take additional space also by straddling the lines and so effectively denying others 4 spaces rather than the 1 that most might occupy, it does keep the plebs at a distance. Still there are those with over polished hatch backs that do the same:eek:. Only thing is campers often take the space for hours or more longer so they can have a shower but if one is thick skinned or narcissistic in the slightest, then that is not a problem. Brew up while people are looking for a parking space steady the nerves, have afternoon tea why not. Stay over night 🌖? Then park sideways across as many bays a possible and get up very very late, it was a hard day yesterday. Use the supermarket loo while her in doors fries up breakfast. Mabe one will be away by noon with a little haste!

Perhaps the additional length might be handy inside and as stated by one 6 footer the beds are more than long enough, so sub 6 footers and those on parr could get the saw out and remove a foot or more. 2 large dogs OK while travelling should not be a problem but where on earth are does going to sleep, perhaps all proped up in front watching the radio with the windscreen fogging up, "do not disturb the dogs" the notice warns, big dalings!🐕‍🦺🐕‍🦺

There shouldn't be any need to do this in a van up to 6m long, but I have to do that in the motorhome if I can't get end tandem spaces. The tail swing of the long rear overhang makes it impossible to get out otherwise. You might need a couple of shunts in a LWB van, but it will fit in a single space.

Having said that, I tend to drop 'her' at the door and go and wait out of the way.

Of course, just being a little humerus. The Better half likes to shop single handed because I may put things in that I like and miss out the marmite, yuk and I am fine with that so I just people watch which can be a very amusing thing to do in supermarket car parks and a few others also and the post above are some of the things that I have observed over time. Just like how most endeavour to get as close to the store as possible no matter how awkward and packed it might be even when some are so poor at parking even with some of the smallest vehicles, yet their may well be plenty of empty places a little further away. Many do not even turn the wheel to full lock just go back and forth repeatedly then give up, just little things.

More than likely a deliberate ploy to dissuade/prevent others from parking too close to their beloved camper.
