Accessory advice

Hi chaps,
I'm new to VW and to the forum so please excuse my ignorance if I'm asking already answered questions.
I'm downsizing from a LWB MK7 Transit to a LWB Kombi thats due for delivery in January (old and new for work in construction).
Having looked at a few, dare I say it, look a bit bland. I'd like to add some accessories without making it look like its crashed thru Halfords. Looking online there is so much stuff to choose from that varies wildly in price. I'm going to need a roof rack/bars, side steps cos I like the look and a rear spoiler. The dealer has offered me all of this (price tbc). It seems a bit of a minefield.
Any advice greatly appreciated!

hello @Bedtime welcome to the forum

I think the question comes down mainly to money and piece of mind, if you are happy to spend an extra few hundred quid on the genuine VW parts and get them fitted by your dealer then the fitment is guaranteed as well as the product which is reassuring but your are going to pay for that privilege, there are plenty of cheaper products and some people enjoy fitting things them selves so i guess its which bracket you fall into
The OE rear spoiler seems to be more popular for the back end where as aftermarket bars are generally more popular and if it is actual steps you are after then im not sure VW do them so may force you to go aftermarket
When looking for roof racks make sure you check the strength/loading on them, lots of the cheaper ones are styling accessories and not intended for heavy loads so if you plan to carry ladders and materials etc up top then defo gonna need a proper roof setup
Check out the Exterior/Styling section there is a few threads on roof bars & spoilers etc

Thanks chaps. Sound advice. I'll talk to the dealer and see what he comes up with.
I'm still at the point where I can change the build, I would value your opinions, if I post the build spec below to see if I've gone over the top or missed anything glaring.
Thanks again. I like it here.

Have you considered the rear heating systems? Or the AUX battery?

My biggest regret was not ordering the fuel burning heaters.

What are you using the vehicle for?

Thanks @mhill. It's mostly going to be used for work (construction) but I'd like the versatility of being able to take the family out as well. I've got a LR Discovery with the fuel burning heater, it's great for the Mrs and kids on a cold morning and shaves valuable seconds off the school run! Im not fussed about it for me as I've specced heated seats and windscreen. Great shout on the aux battery tho, I wonder if it's a split load charging system?
