ABT-E conversion - electric to ICE

hi all,new here so please forgive mistakes,i have just bought an 18 plate doner van to convert my abte back to diesel,if anyone knows of or requires any abte kit, ie motor battery pack etc please give me a shout,im not looking to get rich,just to recoup a little.cheers lee

Hi Lee, Did you ever convert an eabt back to diesel or petrol in the end?

I Have been interested in this type of project for some time . I wanted to put an RS3 motor in to the Electric ABT Van T6.1 , Space restraints holding me back at the moment , but still keen to have a go .

I have lowered an ABT E Van and had a good look at it , All the original harness is still there ( unplugged and strapped safely out the way .) this would be easy to convert back to what ever spec the van started life as ( diesel motor ) they have a DSG gearbox so i am unsure if this could be used and the ratios are still as per a diesel van , big help if it is . I am led to believe the battery is similar to an ID 3 4 or 5 range ?? potential there to sell on . The instrument cluster must be changed but i think the plugs are direct fit .

There is a Facebook Guy JG who has already put the RS3 engine in a T5 , i am sure he was challenged with it , but its running now i think ?

If someone can pull this conversion off they’d be onto a winner. I’ve seen 3 year old e-Vans with sub 20k miles on go for less than £10k.
You could buy a crate engine at that price!

ey up pal,yes its done,just struggling with DVLA
