SWB Highline, 2 people & a dog, twin captains seats, fully laden with 5 days on the go food and 21 days additional supplies, clothing and wash gear for 2, porta potty, Austops roof with panorama, 150 sliding RIB, sound deadening and double layered insulation, fabric and suede finish interior, LOC8 table, pod/sink/hob/clean-dirty water, Propex heating/cooking and underslung gas tank, ehu, 35l fridge, two duvalays (they are bloody awesome btw), road bike on towbar mounted rack hanging off the back.

31mpg on a 1600 mile run to Spain, N95 Ron (5% ethanol).

Snow, ice and sun from -4 to +17, crossing the Pyrenees or driving snoozy Spanish m'ways the Michelin Crossclimate + have been excellent.

In any gear, at any speed there is power, thank goodness I got one before VW pulled it.

It's a true continent crusher in this spec and tune, I can think of no other place you can outdrag everyone but the Panamera from the Peage and then boil a kettle for a nice cuppa at the Aire 50 miles up the road ;) before a quick snooze on the king size

I need some suspension advice though, it's still on it's T28 springs and is somewhat of a cruise ship rather than a cruise missile.

So true :)

Suspension simple recipe: B14 set to your desired height, coupled with H&R Anti roll bars is all you need. Not a cheap modification, but one that pays dividends in the comfort/handling dept for years to come.

I've gone for the B14s on my DSG SWB Kombi TSI and let Leighton Vans set the height settings for me (approx 60mm drop).

Totally transformed the handling and controls the barge like standard characteristics of the van on roundabouts etc... However, its a van at the end of the day so some compromise needed ;):)

An update if anyone's interested, learning all the time with this engine, two days and 1000 more miles in Spain and France, now getting 33.4mpg . Sweet spot is between 2100 & 2250 rpm at between 65 and 75 mph, strong torque, no need to change out of 6th. Cheap Spanish fuel is terrible, definitely tell the difference with big brand stuff, getting 625 miles from a tank.
