2017 T6 150 manual ticking noise

when you had all of this done. . . .

" I've had the aux belt tensioner replaced, timing belt and water pump replaced, oil & filter change, the turbo and injectors looked at however the noise is still here"

did none of the mechanics pic up on the noise?

or was this all done before you had the van?

+++++++++
This work was all done by my local garage as their suspected issues for the noise. The timing belt and pump had been done at 63k before I owned the van at 74k and has now been redone at 77k by myself as it was a suspected waterpump issue after it wasn't the aux belt tensioner. After these they unfortunately had no further suggestions as to what it could be.

I searched for noises on here first and did see about the dual mass flywheel and watched videos on this noise by doesn't seem the same and the noise resumes with the clutch pressed. I'm thinking it will have to be a VW independent or specialist, unfortunately the VW franchises here are owned by Arnold Clark who don't have the greatest reputation for being fair and honest when it comes to repairs

Thanks @mmi would an extended voice clip help with this at all? If it is this fault would it be best to be going to VW direct or a vw specialist?

I haven't noticed the oil levels at the moment, I checked it when I first got the van and then it sat for 3 months not being used until it could be looked at and then the next stage was it having the repairs done including timing belt & water pump. I haven't even done 100 miles since having it back with the fresh oil so I will keep an eye on the levels.

The van came with full VW service history including the timing belt already done which is why this appealed to me and I flew to London to collect it from a Ford dealer and drove it back to Scotland but looks like I've brought a lemon back now

IF it had it’s first oil change at approx 19000 miles (says interval inspection?) it didn’t get the next oil change for another 30000 miles.
VW Longlife servicing states 2 years or 18000 miles max’, your van has been driven well past this distance interval.
I don’t regard VW Longlife servicing as being a reliable method to maintain a vehicle if you want the engine to survive past the ‘commercial fleet’ lifespan.
The previous owner has even managed to exceed the VW Longlife spec’.
I would guess that you have more engine wear than to be expected for the milage, an oil filter in by-pass due to too high back pressure will allow unfiltered oil to be circulated through the engine.

I'll check the service booklet when I get home as I'm sure the intervals are different stated to that one the vw franchise sent electronically. I only received that via email a couple weeks back as proof of the belt having been done

this is not a T6 . . . but a general info video

That does sound fairly similar. Seems like bewtween what yourself and MMI have suggested it seems to be this issue.

I've had a look at the history booklet and some of the services don't add up to what the electronic copy says, Also now looking at the booklet it seems like this has all been stamped and filled in at the same time, exact same ink colour, same ink flaws on the stamp, same user ID and same handwriting. I've now been in contact with the garage that sold it who asked for all the information of both histories and issues with the van so it will now be a waiting game in how helpful they will actually be. I've actually only done a smidge over 2.5k since getting the van

Thanks for all the help so far which is genuinely appreciated, I've wanted a transporter since being a teenager and now finally making the move in my mid 30's in a not very buyer friendly market I feel a bit scunnered with it all

We'll keep us posted.

It's a machine after all and just needs some attention.

Whether it's valve lifters/camshaft or not it can be sorted out and fixed.

All you need to do is find the garage to fix it and work out who's going to pay for it.

After that you can enjoy your T6 and start making the most of it.

An oil analysis will give a non-intrusive way of determining if there is excessive engine wear, easy enough to do yourself with a syringe and hose. Make sure the data entered with the oil sample is correct.

Very true, you can tell I've just come off the back of owning a 1.6tdi with injectors constantly going. Once it's sorted it will be worth it in the end

Just an update on this of anyone else down the line has this same noise or issue it was eventually diagnosed correctly as the High pressure fuel pump.

It's still a bit of an ongoing saga with the dealer I bought it from as they have tried their best to do absolutely nothing to help remedy the issue or even return any form of contact I've made. I've had the pump replaced via a third party warranty at a local garage which has stopped the noise however I know the full VW process for having this repair carried out was not followed. All that has been carried out is the pump replaced and that's it, there hasn't been any investigation into potential contamination which VW advised me should be carried out via the phone.

Fortunately I'm in a bit of a favorable position in that I can prove this was diagnosed previously by VW also just a few weeks before it was traded into Trust Ford from who I bought it from a couple weeks later which leaves me in a better position of going down the legal route of having this carried out as I can prove the fault was there when they took ownership. They are advising they wouldn't have known there was an issue even though the van sounded like it did in the video and still passed all their inspections as having no faults. I also requested for VW to repair the van which they initially agreed on also before going radio silent however I'd have to pay this upfront now and try claim that back via the third party warranty and at an estimated cost from VW of £6-9k I wasn't in a position to do this.

I've contacted VW to ask for their procedure on this repair before getting back to the dealer again and requesting it be done at their cost to VW standard but if anyone has anything formal from VW from a repair manual that would also be a great help incase they don't get back to me. Appreciate all the help I've also currently had
