2016 T6 Automatic 180bhp emotion. I'm not sure ??

New member and after some advice. I'm Looking at buying a 2016 Volkswagen Transporter 2.0L T6/T32 Highline. 180 BHP with an automatic gearbox. 4 Motion. Anything to be aware of? Any help appreciated.

Is it a CFCA engine variant, see V5 engine number, handbook front pages or label under the steering rack?
 
It will be a CFCA variant. Be aware that there are potential issues with this engine variant where the EGR can break down on some (not all but the odds aren’t good). The EGR when it breaks down gets ingested into the engine causing rapid wear of the cylinder bores leading to high oil consumption - more than a litre per 1000 miles and eventually leads to complete failure. A replacement is at least £12,000! If your still interested as a minimum get an oil analysis done and this will tell you whether any metal particles are present. Whilst some recommend a ‘D’ version of the EGR is the safe one even these can fail it’s more about luck of the draw I’m afraid

Thanks very much, the odds aren't good doesn't sound great. What are the more solid engines?
 
Its a decade old. In the UK the average car only survives 10.5 years, which gives you some idea of the life its probably already led.

Heed the advice above re the CFCA unit, and if you do decide that you would like to purchase get it professionally inspected by the AA or RAC. The list of things they will inevitably find will give up a more realistic idea about whether to pull the trigger or not.

If you're looking at that T6 you must be happy with Euro 5, if that's the case then the 140Hp CAAC engine is probably a better bet, it's renowned for being reliable and not known for the problems described above.

Sounds like it's potentially more hassle

I have one, it’s bulletproof once the EGR is disabled, even if it’s a Rev D.
If it hasn’t had a Tafmet kit fitted from less than 40K miles then run away.
There’s a good few days reading on CFCA but what I said above is the jist of it.
Never buy without good Miller oil analysis results.
