2016 T28 rear shocks cracking/ rust - replace?

Whilst doing a bit of rust treatment under the van, I noticed my rear shock absorbers are both chipped/ cracked, presumably from corrosion. The springs were also rusty but seem to be intact and I have now treated with a rust converter and planned to finish with Dinitrol ML and 4941. These are original on a 2016 T6 (T28) (converted to a camper around 70k) with just over 100k miles.
I plan to hold onto the van and aim to put another 100k on it.

Am I wasting my time rust treating the shocks/ springs? Should I just replace them?

If replacing with OEM T28 shocks/ springs, what sort of cost will I be looking at? Any recommendations on where to source replacements?

Based near Glasgow.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

That’s a very rusty van, are you regularly driving through seawater, a ford or flooded road?

No, it's spent a fair bit of time around the coast but gets used mostly in the north of Scotland on weekends/ holidays.

It's probably not as bad as it looks. This is after I sprayed it with a rust converter so everything looks like it has a film on it. The suspension was pretty rusty but the chassis was in surprisingly good condition, just a few spots of surface rust. I expected worse after 9 years/ 100k miles. The original coatings seems to be so doing their job.

I also have a 9 year old, 76K miles SWB, live approx 10 miles from the Devon coast. It’s not as rusty, maybe the only difference is the amount of road salt used.

I've only had it since 70k, so can't speak to it's former life. Have you done any anti rust treatments or do you regularly clean the underside? I have to say I've neglected that until recently.

I clean my van about every two months, at that point I spray the hose under the van. That’s the only cleaning.

Its no trouble to post , we do it everyday . all over the country !
I would say get the rear Shocks for a T32 , they are a little stiffer and the Cali has a lot of weight obviously . Might pay to put T32 rear springs as well , have you checked the rake of the van to see if the rear is lower than the front ( Measure the wheel arch gaps front and rear , centre of the wheel to the top of the arch ) .

Thanks.

I have the VW / Eibach 30mm lowering springs?

I’m just looking to replace the OEM shocks like for like ideally.

Thanks.

Best measure the wheel arch gaps ,i think you will find its a lot lower than 30 mm . If it is you should consider biting the proverbial bullet and buy some of our KONI Definition shocks , the improvement will be huge !
