17" Steel Swamper style wheels

I bought a set of 4 of these wheels from Van Style to replace the standard 16"alloys. Having had the wheels on the van for 12 months I could see the ring of decorative bolts have started to look chatty and the washers under the bolts have started to rust and leave brown rust stains. I removed 1 bolt with it's washer and took them to 'Butlers Fasteners' in Nottingham where I got all 88 bolts and washers matched but in Stainless Steel replacements for £14.17p. Great service and price from Butlers Fasteners of Nottingham. The wheels are back to their former glory for just a few quid. The originals where gold/brass colour but had tarnished and looked crap.

I have Fuel Zephyr's and the bash ring bolts are either painted or powder coated. Either way, the coating is starting to come off on some bolts which really shows up against everything else being black. I had considered re-coating them in some way but I wonder if a new set of stainless bolts like this would look OK.
This has certainly got me thinking.

I wished I had swapped them at the time of fitting the wheels as new. The new bolts have made all the difference appearance wise. If you imagine the pic of the wheel in my post but with silver ring bolts instead of gold. I looked on e-bay for replacement SS bolts and washers where I found the price to be rediculous. I took a pattern of a bolt and washer to a local firm that specialise in fasteners and asked them to match my pattern in SS. When the guy said the price I had to ask him again because I was shocked at the difference beteeen his price and e-bay price and didn't want to see the bloke get the sack lol. It's up to you, but when I fitted the new SS bolts, I gave each one a little dab of lock-tight for extra security. Swapping 88 bolts is a 'Ball Ache' but I love the new look. Happily remove the old bolts with a power tool but I would fit the new ones using hand tools and tweek the bolts up by hand.
