Hi
My T6.1 recently had the starterbattery replaced as it was dead. The AA confirmed it to be the battery and fitted a new one. Three months on and I am getting a low battery warning when I start the van after it’s been standing for about a week.
A drive seems to recharge it and the warning...
Hi everyone 👋
We have a VW T6 Transporter, 2016 (75 kW TDI, CXGB engine), and want to convert it for light camping use – nothing fancy, mainly:
some LED lighting in the back
charging for laptop and phones
possibly a diesel air heater later
The van came with a factory dual battery setup...
Glow plug delay...
Was the new battery coded in?
Does the stop/start work correctly?
Does the temp sensor work correctly?
Is there anything wired to the starterbattery NEG terminal?
Hi all. My apologies that i don’t own T6 but mechanical something similar, 2024 Skoda Octavia vRS diesel , same engines, battery and smart alternator. I see a lot of battery info on here so thought i’d post a question.
Not sure what to make of my battery, car is 18 months old. I put my Topdon...
Have you got the Renegade bluetooth app running and connected?
Have you tested with a multimeter that you've got starterbattery voltage on one side and leisure battery voltage on the other side?
Most people with a leisure battery are now using the able mal AMT 12-2. Trickle charger.
That will trickle charge your starterbattery by taking power from the leisure battery.
Depending on the size of your leisure battery you can get months of starterbattery charge.
If you have a portable battery pack.
Then you can charge the starterbattery even with no mains outside the house.

If the starterbattery is low you will get this message. I would have thought that after a 300 mile journey the battery should have recharged so may be goosed perhaps after being deeply discharged. If you have a volt meter that would confirm the message is correct and then have the battery...
Have you checked the starterbattery voltage ? Sounds like the starterbattery could need replacing?
Also are you sure the DRL’s are turning off when the ignition is off? I had an old van a couple of years ago without auto lights and forgot to turn them off and the headlights would turn off...
I've been chasing a parasitic battery drain as after leaving van for a week the starterbattery will be flat.
Testing between negative battery terminal and negative lead with all doors shut ect im getting around 0.9a drain.
If I disconnect the positive cable from starterbattery to renogy...
...agm leisure battery in our Aussie spec Cali T6.1 to lithium today, with dc dc charger, connection to solar plus ability to restore starterbattery. The overhead battery monitor also being recoded. Also installing new remote port at rear of van. At coffee shop whilst work is being completed.
...themselves - Large MPH dissapearing and Power mirrors unfolding.
So I have dug out my trusty CTEK charger and connected it to the starterbattery. A Yusas YBX096 75Ah/700A installed in Nov 23.
My thoughts this evening are, what about the split charge wizardry? Is it ok just to go hook up...
Ignore the below - I've answered my own question. So I'll do recode
I've just had to buy a new battery - well I probably could have dragged it out a bit longer, but the battery was reading 11.7V and struggling to spin the starter on a cold morning.
I've bought and fitted a Bosch S5 A08 096...
And look at adding a starterbattery trickle charger that will run off your leisure battery.
