Hidden feed underneath looks great, but I always wondered how best to fit them to a standard roof that has the ridges rather than flat of a pop top style.
Well I was gonna get a solar panel with a hidden out feed for the cables and just drill through the roof and seal it on there. When I eventually get a pop top it can potentially be retrieved with fishwire and be re installed or upgraded.
I have the cable for my suitcase that's propably long...
I have mentioned this before but still, I'm not sure if I wanna route solar cable all the way to my seatbase to go in the MPPT on my renogy B2B/MPPT
I'm thinkin of getting a cheap panel for the roof (not pop top) and routing a cable down to the cupboard to my ecoflow... whilst the rear is...
Progress with blood and sweat.
Routed in ac charger plug to unit, and the EHU cable. B pillar bit me. Got seat out and installed battery tray with some minor alterations. Pretty good. Done some connections. More to come.
I swear there was no insulation tape nearby so had to make do with...
Hey Dell, nice job on the massive solar.
I'm on a similar project now, 2 x 240 WP on the pop top of our T6.1.
Old panel is off, no paint damage just leftover kit and primer that I will cover with the new panel. It is a flat roof, no ridges.
So here's what I would like to ask:
- Did you just put...
Thanks folks for all the replies.
I do learn a lot from you folks.
Had a look at the wiring on the cb516
The 12 volt cables have a outside diameter of 5m.
Don't really want to snip the cable until I have all the parts
Would I be correct in saying it is a 4mm cable and could take the 30amp...
I run a leisure battery (under driver's seat) so it runs off that, cableroute follows the existing wiring up there along the top of the windscreen and then down the b pillar under the passenger seat to where I have all of the fuses (re-purposed the OEM fuse block). The charger itself I bought...
I feel like you need to provide photos as proof of this awesomeness. This is the best idea I have heard about for the cubby hole. Am inspired. Cableroute and power supply info/photos would be good too. Good job @phazer
Tomorrow I'm starting the slow job of putting rear quarter panel in and tall unit so as to mark out orientation and position for control panel, fuse board and ceiling lights, then whip it all out and decarpetify and remove part of insulation to neaten up my conduit route in rear quarter. Also...
I had an SCA roof before and routed as your plan. With the skylow I found the screws holding the lining panels on so removed these so i could get behind them.
Just about to start this process with my SCA roof, and trying to find how / where to run the cables. Do you have any photos you could share, or give a description please? I have a tailgate, if that makes a difference. Cheers.
No mixer, just add cold water until the temperature is correct. Pot, pump, switch, hose, shower head and dog bath. I don’t bother with the privacy tent anymore, takes up too much space.
Where have people mounted the CU under the bonnet?
I've routed the cable through on the drivers side. There is plenty space but struggling to find mounting points.
Realistically the inlet could be mounted on the bulkhead or close.
Then the cable run would only be from directly behind the...
Most installs run from under the bonnet to under the passenger seat so depending on your cable routing it doesn’t add too much difference just an small bit extra only protected by the camp site rcd I wouldn’t worry too much
I’d say go for solar. Since adding my 200w panel I’ve not used the DC-DC or EHU. I haven’t even bothered putting the mains charger in the van. I don’t use an inverter so just 12v fridge, lights, USB, diesel heater etc. as mentioned you need a panel (suggest 200w or bigger) and a solar controller...
Thanks all for the kind (and extreme) advice. @Sasquatch hope you're on the mend!
The Tea and cake option could work but my shift patterns will trash any hopes for a day off that's of any use and I don't have access to fine china... but in principle it's a great idea thanks @Matt-T68
I shall...
You need a window antenna (mine is wrong so getting a replacement) like this
So I'm takin this one off and when I get the new one I'm gonna put it along the upper window edge so less obvious and potentially will have a screen visor sticker so won't be visible. My standard radio worked but DAB...
