So... if I read the advice right, the difference between a cabinet fridge and a top loading fridge is that the compressor is mounted appropriately upright in each configuration; on the back of a cabinet fridge upright and on the bottom of a top loading fridge upright, so that the oil in the...
No it's just a normal hex for a socket,or ring spanner.
I think the torque is 30Nm or 22lb/ft - but rule of thumb is tight enough but not tight enough to damage anything!
It’s horrible when parts fail and am sympathetic even though my views are stern but I was always told cheapest is the most expensive in the end, if you don’t trust the garages you take your vehicles too why do so many people not go to reputable ones or dealers ( it’s to save a few pounds ) and...
I agree with your comments on low level of copper regarding bearing wear, backed to by zero tin or lead.
If the iron contamination is from bore wear I would expect some piston ring wear to go with it, I’m not sure how the rings are manufactured but some chromium is usually used and the results...
it is @Stay Frosty and with a 16k bill attached for a new engine ... on a 50 k mile van just out of warranty ... the testers are saying a bent con rod the valves would be closed for hydro lock up for that to happen the piston now not reaching its full stroke to make enough...
Ding Ding Round#2
After the van being in for an 70k ALL-IN service, they reported front pads & discs 75% worn.
more on that here: @Dellmassive`s T6 T32 Sportline 204 LWB DSG PV MY18 - Van Adventure
and the awesome guys over at NUTEXA getting us sorted with a new set of fronts. . . Thanks...
Hi Monty, it was like most things VW, a pain in the butt to fit. There were the usual crap installation instructions so you have to make it up as you go along.
Firstly DON'T DRILL THROUGH THE WIRING LOOM! This cleverly runs along the very place where you might want to drill through while...
Van has been in for an MOT this morning, passed with no issues. They have however said that they can hear a knocking noise coming from the sump/gearbox area when the van is up on the ramp.
Bit of background;
T6 EU6 102 Bhp with 62k on the clock, had a new key programmed by VW 4 weeks ago during...
33% lower than spec’ at 2000RPM is quite a drop and 101K isn’t such high milage on a Diesel. I guess the garage used the correct grade oil, lower viscosity oil will also result in lower oil pressure.
Had a bit of a Google search and see that the oil pumps do occasionally fail on T5, if the pick...
I need a bit of help please.
My van is flashing up on the display that it need an oil change. Eu5 180 Bhp engine.
It was booked in but they have cancelled because they are closed because of the current situation.
However I am classed as an essential worker and therefore still need to use my...
Really?
From my experience as a mechanic years ago, this method would never remove all the old oil like the more traditional method of removing the sump bung at the lowest point of the engine. Is that the official way to remove oil now? It's been some years since i've worked in a garage, and...
Just reading this thread and some of @flyingging earlier posts and it looks like this engine has always used oil (quote - Mine used about 2 litres doing 20000 miles ! - 22 April 2017). If this has continued, then I'm considering that this is something that has failed much earlier in this...
I have one of these: Expert Manual or Pneumatic Oil Extractor 77057 OE2 | Draper Tools
It is manual and pneumatic so if you have a compressor it saves slot of manual pumping. Used it for several years now.
I had to make up a longer extension suction tube for the T6 CAAC engine because the...
Hi,
I've had my T6 204 DSG van now for just short of 6 months, I bought it at 3 years old from a reputable converter. The van went in for a service on Monday and during the usual investigation video that they do at VW they identified evidence of an oil leak around the sump area. To determine...
Remove the plug from bottom of oil filter cover/housing and drain the oil from filter housing. Then remove threaded oil filter cover. Sounds like similar to your Caddy. See page 101 in the document on previous page - that picture in the doc is "upside down". Inside red circle here you see...
As recommended by @Mooncat, I’ve fitted the engine under tray that VW omitted in an obvious cost cutting exercise.
Hopefully this will help to protect the exposed components from debris and weather. Great little upgrade that didn’t take long and wasn’t too difficult.... only problem was access...
Just done an oil change on my 150, here's a few useful pics for info.
New filter (Mann 501440619 from Carparts4less with code SCREAM100 gets it at £6.30) comes with filter and 2 O rings.
Small O ring goes on the filter drain plug, use this to drain most of the oil out of the filter housing...
