Hi, I’ve just seen this thread and I’ve recently picked up some h7s to replace my h4s. Can I pick your brains on the process. I’ve plugged mine in and the incorrect lights come on and a bulb out light on the dash. Did you have to change any wiring or coding. Thanks for and advice!
IMHO, Yes is the answer to your question (with the same standard halogen bulbs in both). But as @Stay Frosty and @dubber36 are politely discussing this is a pretty subjective assessment so as they say "your mileage may vary'.
Personally I also like the look of the H7's on the front. If you can...
No, it doesn't.
Because the T6.1 (the one with the the H7 and H15 combo), does not keep the DRL active when either the low or high beam are active.
So the combinations that you have are:
1=Side/park lights= H15 DRL filament at half voltage, all the rest OFF.
2=DRL =H15 DRL filament at full...
At £20, my redundant H4 headlights took a couple of months to sell to someone using them temporarily on a T5 to T6 front end conversion. The replacement H7 headlights I bought were a direct fit for me. The only Carista coding needed was to make the dip and main bulbs stay on when on full beam...
They are these, makes sure you don't get the "BOOST" as they are not marked as legal and you may fail an MOT, you want the "INTENSE" that are marked.

You want the H11...
Need help please....
Bought the van with the bulb management light on, scanned it when at the sellers and it came back with a DRL Left/Right voltage error in ODB11.(simple enough fix so i thought....
Bought some replacement 'Canbus Error Free DRL's', scanned with ODB11 and the scan comes back...
Hi all, just been changing the H4bulbs in my van I recently bought (T6 2018). Whilst changing the drivers side, I noticed one of the pipes from the air filter housing loose (item 20 on below exploded view).
Can someone please tell me what the pipe is and where it’s supposed to fix to?? The...
Can anyone recommend a headlight bulb upgrade on my 2019 kombi with H4 headlamps. Got to be brighter than original factory fitted bulbs. They must also be road legal to pass mot and don’t throw up any errors on dash. Thank you all.
Hi all,
I am looking for some help with coding out the bad bulb warning on my T5.1. I have had the Philips H4 and W5LEDs installed for a little while. When turning them on I get the land diagnostic warning light on the dash.
In VCDS I have modified Bit 16
Lamp Diagnostics for Low Beam active...
Your setup looks great.
I have the same bulbs and the V2 version of the headlights - it’s a massive upgrade compared to the H4 headlamps and I feel a lot more confident driving during this time of year.
I was just swapping a h4bulb on my van and heard a ping. I think a little retainer popped out of the headlight unit - leaving the hole shown in the pic and what item 3 - the spring clip, latches on to to hold the bulb securely.
Is this a new headlight unit job as I don’t see the part listed...
Hi,
My H4 headlights were discolouring. Bought Turtlewax headlight cleaner - made it so much worse - ended up with like a wire wool effect (assume fibres from cloth hardened or something)
Tried Autoglym Headlight restorer kit - gone from bad to terrible - obv drill speed was too high as...
There might be better options but hopefully not much brighter. I’m sure there is a maximum figure/pattern for true brightness. Cheap LED bulbs can no doubt exceed this and their poor build quality is what makes them dangerous for everyone - other road users and the driver that installed them...
I had 55w in mine mate. I would say if you've not bought the headlights yet go for LED over the THQ as they are much better....The THQ indicator and DRL is almost invisible in sunlight.
Turns out, although i cleared the DRL faults and the scans came back clear, the 'Error Free Fogs' i purchased aren't error free at all, a mate had some spare with resitistors fitted and wallop, bulb management light has gone out....
Kudos to you all, as i wouldn't have got this far without this...
Yeah, you're being a bit H4 :think smile bounce:
Just pulling your leg.
High and Low are seperate bulbs. The Low switch off when you hit High but much better to code so that Low stay on when you hit High.
Funny you should say that - after experiencing the excellent LEDs on the van, Mrs Bank Manager insisted on better lights for her Polo. Fortunately, some better bulbs appear to have appeased!
