Anyone had the EGR pipe replaced by a dealer after the vans warranty has expired. Fumes entering the cab is a safety issue. Should be subject to a recall in my opinion.

For air to enter the van air has to leave the van, if the warm air being exhausted is laden with moisture from burning gas hob / cooking / exhaled breath then it should keep the van drier. I have a similar problem with exhaust fumes in cab and when i was filling washer bottle the other night i glanced down and discovered the front of the engine behind radiator was completely covered in black soot .Cannot find where it is coming from.any ideas

Check if your EGR pipe isn't split on the bellows, common fault....... I was getting a smell of fumes in the cab too. Replaced the EGR pipework, VW have upgraded the bellows on the replacement.
