@Dellmassive not quite, not quite!
See my post here on 'How I done it' IgnitionLive under passenger seat (30 amp) ANOTHER WAY TO DO IT!!!
Might help someone!
...let's see if I have understood it all.
I was planning to override (turn off) the engine shutdown detection and rely on the ignitionlivefeed to the DC-DC charger, to allow charging when the ignition was on. Is this OK?
Even if I do the above, the DC-DC charger drawing current from the...
You really need to find out where the second red lead on the A+IN goes to as it’s creating a direct feed to your starter battery. Normally you would only have one cable here taking the feed from the starter battery and as has already been said the thin red wire would be connected to an ignition...
You can remove the socket in the dash (not easy unless you have some outward circlip pliers!) then cut the positive cable, attach a new cable and route to the fuse box below the gear lever. Drop the cable down through the dash. Then attach to one of the ignition switched fuses in the middle row...
Right this isn’t a workaround; sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t, so I need to get a proper 12V ignitionfeed back onto the red wire of the camera and put the yellow “reverse signal” wire back to just being the reverse signal wire, rather than trying to supply both: The camera power...
...to see the kids in the back when driving at night. works really well. Ill grab a picture for you.
I have it wired into an ignitionlivefeed then just use the supplied remote to turn on and off
this sort of thing, cant remember the exact one I order but they are pretty cheap:
LightecUK...
Does depend how it is wired in.
Usual aftermarket dash cams are wired on a ignitionlivefeed from a piggy back fuse in the fuse board (for T6 usually the central lower dash box) so that the camera is powered and recording when the ignition is on. Most cameras will turn on themselves on when...
Hi Pugsley,
I’m in the process of fitting the DRL bonnet strip and have also used a piggyback fuse.
Does your DRL stay on for 30 seconds or so after you have removed your keys?
I couldn’t find any supply other than permanent lives or ignitionlives that stayed powered up for a short while after...
I see, I don't really want to go down that route.
Reading the manual for my inverter, it comes with a 12v cigarette plug and states you shouldn't pull more than 150w using this plug. I'm sure there's a calculation for the watts and amps, but apparently the DeWalt charger doesn't pull much more...
Hi all, i have installed the Renogy 40A DC-DC charger (see picture below for model of charger) in my T6 but im having issues. When the engine is running the Charger works fine and charges my leisure battery however when i turn it off, it contiures to charge.
I have used a piggyback fuse on an...
just had a Road Angle Halo Dashcam fitted today at Halfords.
Took a while as the guy wired it wrong long story - still not sure it is right as don’t think parking mode working (so maybe not taken livefeed only ignition side) will check in morning.
The question for today, it is not mounted...
...the possibility of the DC-DC putting a high load on startup with a low starter battery just put a switch or small fuse in the ignitionlivefeed somewhere accessible, then you can turn the charger off if you are ever worried...
I had thought I had the solution until I tested it today so wondering if any bright spark has a solution (did search however didn't find the answer)
I was going to use the footwell LED power to light my knight rider bonnet light as having observed the LED light it looked ideal:
- would come...
While it's the gold standard to connect to that pin it'll work fine just picking up an ignitionlivefeed from the dash fusebox.
The difference the 20/30A makes on startup isn't going to be an issue in 98% of start cases.
Thanks.
I will just have to try them out by trial and error until I find one I think.
Failing that is the any wires under the bonnet that are ignitionlivefeeds?
That’s the thing…. I can’t see any power lights on it at all so I don’t know if it’s on our not.
Not sure where the SD card goes either.
I’ll have another look and report back ….
If you have a bypass relay then that will already have a heavy duty 12v feed to do it's job?
Are you a single battery or starter and auxiliary battery van?
Post some pics of what you've got already?
There are several internal fuse boxes but the only one with an ignition switched live is...
originally i did have an open gromet,
but it kept falling out when i was pulling/pushing the wire in/out,
so i ended up binning it off..
